So it seems I have a camera defect - a clear blue dot appears on my pictures that were taken with a bright light source, cloud pictures for example. Should I take it back to MTN or an iStore?

Dam thats crap bud, how long do you have your unit for ?

You need to return back to the iStore that processed your upgrade/new contract and they will process the booking in process, No need for you to go to MTN. You will receive a replacement, but not immediately it has to be examined to confirm the unit does not have any physical damaged and has not been opened or repaired by a 3rd party. This will be done at MTN's Repair centre.

This only applies for contracts taken out through iStore.

Contracts taken out directly from SPs or SP resellers like Cellucity etc. need to be taken back to them.

You sure that's just not refraction or whatever?

Like remember when the 5s came out and it used a sapphire crystal coating or something, which would sometimes lead to purple effects in direct light?

Might be lense flare indeed. One hardly takes pictures directly into the sun anyways, guess I should try replicate it in the same conditions with the old phone rather before taking action

It just so happens I took this yesterday with my 6s. Just for comparison and FYI.

Also, in the pic you posted, I take it you left the camera to autofocus? Or did you tap to focus?

Would be interesting to see what happens when you tap to focus on the sun and the clouds.

I'm about to get myself an iPhone so now what should I do - apply for the contract at the istore for better after sales service? Surely all iPhone's sold in SA are inherently core products?

Yes you should.

Not sure but I suspect not, imported by the SPs is my guess.

I've never had an issue on a Vodacom contract iPhone. Warranty claims on an iPhone have always been painless.

Not sure about MTN, I tend to avoid them like the plague.

Well my 6s was an OBF (out of box failure) with a dead pixel. I am now waiting up to 7 days for Vodacom to pass a credit note...

So for a dead pixel, the phone has to go to a Vodacom technician in Cape Town for 'inspection'. It then needs to go to Jo'burg for further 'examination'. Shocking. A bloody dead pixel which anyone can see, on a brand new phone.

Even if I'd opened it in the store, it would have made no difference. I would have still been subject to this process.

Vodacom's Ts&Cs on the warranty return sheet are also scary. I would love to compare with iStore's.

But from what I've heard, iStore would almost certainly give better service here.

Strange, I've always taken it into a bigger Vodacom repair centre (like the one at Menlyn). Turn around times were always quick and its been replaced with a new phone each time.

That being said, anything can change.

Oh crap, I was under the impression that he received the handset from an iStore. Yep if it's from a SP then you got to visit the SP for the procedure.

Nightmare, when did all of this occur? Are you still without and waiting?

Yep my advice would be go via an iStore, way better after sales service. Surprising enough Cores iPhones are purchased from Telkom. Contract handsets at an iStore are supplied by the SP's to process upgrades and new Contracts.

Apple only allow SP's to import iPhones, so Core had no say they Inturn have a "Purchase" deal with Telkom.

Well within 7 days of receiving the phone. Took it in on Wednesday last week and still waiting. Friday's update was that it's going to Jo'burg. Crazy.

I got a 128GB 6s from MTN which had a faulty vibrator, they changed it for me in store without any hassles, the guy just tested it to verify and they gave me another brand new one.

That's cool, I just went nuts trying to get though to their Callcentre when I had a data contract.

That being said, I now have a corporate contract with Vodacom and the service is shocking.

Got a 4K bill this month because you still get billed out of bundle rates after purchasing a bundle, if you don't disconnect your original session...

I'll say it again...I'm tired of these "reports" of any new 4" iPhone.

It my book it *only* actually counts when Apple; themselves; actually announces it...
