I enjoy the native keyboard. Would love to theme it but other than that...

I've tried custom keyboards (including swiftkey) but whenever one needed to enter a password it would revert to the native keyboard. Does it still do that?

Can't imagine it would change. Much has been said about the security of 3rd party keyboards. They send your keystrokes to the cloud, not ideal for passwords...

Look, 9.2GM should be out within the next couple of weeks or so. Hopefully a lot of these bugs will be sorted out.

Let's hope it fixes the camera. Although it's been stuffed since the 6, so it's unlikely we'll see any big changes.

It seems they are catering for the masses who wouldn't ever notice the difference and are only after pics that always look good no matter where or how they are shot. Until closer inspection, that is.

I have a few options:

-Keep the 6s and accept it, and/or use a third party camera app that bypasses the noise filter of the 6/6s when I need top image quality, and/or carry around my Fujifilm X-T1 more often...
-Revert back to my 5s and one handed bliss...
-Begin considering Android for the camera... :erm:

It used to that for some things on my 5s, can't specifically remember what but I'm sure passwords were one of them. Now on the 6s, it just doesn't work at all. That's twice I've tried username/password combinations and twice it's not worked, but both in different ways.

In Starbucks when I clicked on username, the keyboard wouldn't appear at al but would when I clicked in the password bit and it would let me enter that. In the hotel, the keyboard didn't show up at all no matter which box I clicked in.

I'm not sure if I've installed an update since the time in Stabucks, but I'm going to be passing it later this evening so I'll see what it happens with Swiftkey installed and then uninstalled.

Bit of a pain?!! What a nuisance?! Oh well...

Such a pity man?!! The 2 elements of a smartphone you place the highest premium on are letting you down bigtime on the 6s! One handed use and camera quality. You must be acclimatizing to the size by now though? I been using voice dictation more and more when on the road for messaging. Works surprisingly well. I'd never considered a viable alternative to typing a message but guess what??? IT IS!! Very accurate about 90% of the time, 99% of the time if I put on my best American accent!

Android is an option, Sony Z5 looks oh so appealing!! Compact for you PP...

Anyway at least you using your 6s. Mine is gathering dust at the moment! Hate how dependent I've become on JB and the treats that come with it.

You need to give it at least a month before doing anything PP. You'll either grow to love it or hate it more! And when 9.2 is jailbroken you jailbreak the sucker and I'll introduce you to tweaks/mods/apps that will enhance your iOS experience by at least 15%!!

Ah yes, that's the reason for swapping to native. Remember reading that somewhere...

Yeah, it's all a bit too messy. I think I'm going to persevere with the stock keyboard for a while and see if I can get used to it.

No, they don't. At least the good ones give you the option not to.

3rd party keyboards require "Full Access" so that they can talk to the app that is on the springboard. You are limited to the logic that you can put in the keyboard component, so the full access is required to talk to the container app (dictation, auto-complete, your most used words, etc).

Whether or not that app transmits it back is up to the app - but full access by itself isn't a bad thing but required due to the silly limitations on IOS.

Mmmm, I don't know the specifics but from what I remember the full access was to let it peek into your social accounts in order to learn your vocabulary.

Either way, I suspect that the issues everyone is having only pertains to entering passwords on websites. There is probably a bug there.

I simply don't like the lack of 3D Touch. It also tends to swap between keyboards when I don't want it to.

I had swype functionality on the Windows phone, while its cool I personally feel that it requires more finger movement than regular typing.

The thing that I do like about the custom keyboards is that they have easier access to punctuation.

That is upto the keyboard software itself. Swiftkeyboard gives you the option to learn keyboards from social, as well as share your custom dictionary across various devices. So your experience is a bit more consistent across your iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
But that is just a toggle, that you turn off on the first or second screen when configuring it.

Like I said, the Full Access is needed for the keyboard to talk to the container app, to provide the value adds. That does not automatically imply that they will upload your passwords everywhere unless you tell them to do that, it's just needed due to the sandboxing of IOS.

Passwords will remain stock keyboard, it is Apple's way of trying to convince people that they have their safety at heart. That's also why you see a lot more 1Password integration in apps making this moot.

I know what you mean by the acronym, but not why you said so they you can start using your 6s?

I find iOS rather dull sans the tweaking and modding available through jailbreaking. I have a iPhone 6 running 8.4 and JB which is my primary device. My vanilla 6s is sitting in a corner gathering dust.

Interesting. After a few weeks with the phone (6s) I still find it okay but I do miss Android as iOS is not as mature in certain aspects.

Also, the resolution screen compared to my 2.5 year old Android is worse.

Which droid?

Jailbroken iDevice with the right mods, is a different beast to stock. I'd honestly go droid if the option to JB didn't exist.

Htc one m7. Does JB introduce any UI stutter or phone lag? Obviously it is mod dependent as well.

Quite the contrary. One of the first tweaks I install is Speed Intensifier. What it does is speed up the many animations baked into iOS. There a number of settings one can choose from on a sliding scale of 1 - 10 with 10 eliminating animations altogether.

The m7's 468ppi 1080p screen is a tough one for the 6s to contend with. Ppi on both 6/6s is quite underwhelming by top end standards.
