iPhone 6s

My wife makes do with a 16gb 5s... but it sucks.

Same boat; wife has a 16gb 5c & because she Instagrams like crazy & takes pics & facebook I to tend to hear moaning here & there about space. Its not a deal-breaker I just take the phone & optimism better.

I really feel it for those poor sods with a 8gb 5c...!

Huh?

Apple acknowledges issue with iPhone 6s battery percentage indicator

http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_ackno...s_battery_percentage_indicator-blog-16131.php

There seems to be an issue with the battery indicator on the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, which prevents the battery indicator from reducing proportionately with the actual charge of the battery, thereby suggesting you have more power left than you actually do.

Apple is aware of the problem and has suggested a simple fix for it. It seems the issue is caused by the device time settings, so moving between timezones causes the battery meter to malfunction. The fix is to either restart the phone or check if the clock is set to update automatically through the settings.

A more permanent fix should be rolled out in the next iOS update.

I've actually had my phone die on me at like 17% the one time. It was a hot day so I didn't think too much about it.

Anyone know if the iPhone 6S+ would have the same (nano)(?)sim as the iPhone 5S currently?

Toying with taking the 6S+, but figure it's going to be too cumbersome for those odd man-day excursions to the Cricket; Rugby etc., and might want to then take the old 5S along instead...

Would the new sim simply slot into the 5S as is?

Yes, nano SIM since the 5.

Cool stuff...so we can establish that the 16gb base model is "workable". It very much depends on the individual user's needs. It can work; its not utter garbage as the press makes it out to be.

So how are you liking your 6s relative to the 6 Plus?

Worth paying the fairly big price diff?

I'm enjoying it. Battery is less good but better than the 6 I had. Probably not worth the price difference :D but it's nice anyway

Just like to keep you guys informed.

Sold the trusty 64gb iPhone 5 for R3700. Hold its value better than expected. I took care of it during those 18 months

iPhone resale ftw

It's fairly decent & straight forward.

Not much do it really. Rather handy

It worked perfect on my i5. It's crashing a fair bit on my 6s Plus. The App itself. Widget runs fine.

How's the size treating you? Ease of use one-handed? That 'reachability' feature, you use it?

Trying to focus on how regularly the 5S goes in my pocket, to see if the 6S+ not fitting easily would be much of a problem...

I'll be honest I "adapted" remarkably easy. I thought going from a 4" to 5.5" would be a proper mission.

Nope; it just means the one handed phone-use days are done & dusted.

I hardly ever use the reachability feature.

My biggest matter initially was carrying a fairly hefty phone in my pocket. After a day it's almost second nature. The other thing is say I want to take out the phone quickly from my pocket for a quick snap or check I'm just (way) more cautious not too drop it due to the sheer size.

To adapt is not hard imo. The rewards are worth it; the vastly bigger screen & better battery life vs the 6s just means better workflow

I don't often take vids so can't comment on the OIS in the cam.

The bump in resolution is good as well.

Don't let the weight of almost 200g (192g) deceive you; it does not feel that heavy once you are briefly accustomed to it.

One thing I find irritating with the iPhone 6/s design is the placement of the power button. Your hand is forced to grip the other side to press it but that's where the volume controls are so I always end up double pressing by mistake.

Agreed. One has to make a conscious effort to avoid the volume key. Quite annoying.

EDIT: Often use reachability too. Find it very intuitive.

I use the 'reachability' feature all the time on my 6s. I guess I'm too lazy to lift my other hand up.

Agreed about the power button and the volume. Gets me every time :D

Check the revised pricing of the 6S on myistore.co.za after the rate of exchange disaster. All models up by roughly R1800. iPhone 7 won't be attainable at this rate.
