iPhone 6s

Pleasure man. It's Lovey for the 6s duo. On the iPad not nearly as good. Only portrait option & poorly optimized for the bigger screen. I mailed the devs about this.

I saw my cuz earlier on & his was asking me my thoughts on the 6s Plus so far.

I mentioned about I & many others believe 64gb is the sweet spot & he was like no ways. He has a 128gb iPhone 6 & used up almost all his space! I was like what do you have on your phone his answer was "movies & music".

So my question is simple:

A) Who has a 128gb iPhone 6/6 Plus; iPhone 6s/6s Plus?

I know Mr PP has a 128gb 6s & a screenshot not long ago indicated there was a fair amount of free space.

B) How much free space do you have on your 128gb devices.

For the record...my device...

So it's been exactly two weeks since I upgraded to the big daddy 6s Plus & I thought I would share some more views:

- battery life is still performing excellent. I can get though aa entire day with absolute ease. Amazing how Apple managed to reduce the battery capacity vs the 6 Plus yet made the battery life better!

- 3D Touch...I absolute love it...it's an indispensable part of my daily workflow. Pretty much all of my most used Apps support 3D Touch. Still waiting for my Facebook rollout of 3D Touch (in the App). In Instagram it just shines. In fact when I use the Mini 2 I can't help but feel limited without 3D Touch. There is an excellent 3rd party App for Instagram on the iPad called Retro & that App would just shine with 3D Touch.

- I find myself using the Reachability option more than initially though.

- the 6s duo is still a speed demon..zero hangs; lock ups; frame drops. The 2gb of RAM also means days I have many many tabs open in Safari zero refreshing needed.

- loving the speed of the enhanced Touch ID.

- just today I tried out the phone in my new Levi 527 & it was a bit on the large size of you have the tighter jeans. A portion of it sticks out actually.

- size screen & res...love it...bigger screen just means you can see & do more. Ito of the resolution "argument" I don't get it from the mostly Droid guys. The 1080p screen is pin sharp. I really don't see a need for a QHD screen or higher!

- Camera= so over the weekend I popped into the Cape Classic Car show; you can find that post in the Motoring section; the 6s Plus was my cam of choice & start up time; focusing all excellent. Afterwards viewing imaging quality & zooming in for my eyes I just see quality.

TL;DR:

The 6s Plus is truly an excellent piece of hardware from all angles. Yes it's beyond expensive; even more so due to the lovely ZAR; but if you fortunate enough to get/own one you now you have a smartphone that imo is the best out there...overall.
Don't forget 3D Touch is still it's infancy; I early await to see what new features are unlocked in later iOS iterations & iOS 10 (iOS X)?

Agreed on Camera and 3d Touch.

1080p screen is perfect but still have an issue with the res on the non plus variant. Its fine but definitely noticeably lower compared to 1080p phones. Photos and Videos look good but text sticks out.

Battery life on the normal 6s is decent if you don't use it a lot but as soon as you use it a lot it dies rapidly. For the last 2 weeks my Telkom line has been dead so have been using the phones wifi hotspot a lot and the phone pretty much is being charged 3 times a day.

Think I've settled on the iPhone 6S+... I say 'think', since I unfortunately still have time until Wednesday to change my mind... :wtf:

No stock at any of the WC iStores for 6S+ 64GB Space-grey.... guess that's the popular option... Should be in by Wednesday at the latest, when they will call me. Joy.

Lovely stuff man. The wait sucks though

I was so surprised two weeks at the MTN flagship store *outside* Canal Walk had like pretty much all the models in stock. I could pick & choose.

I would say Space Gray the most popular option yes followed by Silver; then Gold & finally Rose Gold.

Feel free to disagree with me if you think otherwise.

I upgraded to 9.3 beta 2. Fedup of the stutters, freezing pre 9.3

Got myself a 6s plus finally!!
Thoughts:
Had to get gold, was the only one available at the price. Not terrible but still prefer space grey.
The speed difference is night and day to me, not sure if I've been taken hook line and sinker by the marketing talk but it really does feel incredibly quick.
Touch ID is annoyingly fast, deliberately didn't register any fingers on my left hand so I can use to glance at notifications. Conversely its a pleasure not to have any delay.
3D Touch, a little meh to me at this stage, possibly will grow on me.
The thickness and weight is noticeably different to my 6 plus.
Other than that... same same but different, a worthy upgrade I'd say (a want rather than a need)

It is definitely a worthy upgrade. And Touch ID is awesome. Like you say very quick. I have to make sure to use a different finger if I just want to check a notification. Gaming is also quicker. Enjoy the new phone

it sounds like a winner on paper. 64gb 6s Plus for 24 months for R549...not shabby at all.

That's what I did with the 6S 64GB. Got the contract at the iStore for R499, but not using the CellC SIM card as the network is horrible (using pre-paid Vodacom). I don't use much data or voice, so this works for me.

Tempting. But want to go iStore for iCare. AFAIK, can only buy iCare for phones bought at iStore?

Yes, because its not a "proper" Apple Warranty, its Core Group's continued fleecing of South African customers. Apple warranty is Global, but they are just selling you a half-baked insurance policy here thats all it is. you may as well stand on it and claim from your insurer you're basically doing the same thing..

Yip, I realise that. Prices have increased significantly as well, certainly didn't pay R1000 when I dropped my 5S a year ago. Spent a week with them, got a 'new' refurbished one back.

Still easier/more cost-effective than going via insurance, and would lose my Outbonus etc.

Each to their own of course, many might opt to ignore it completely as an option...
