iPhone 6s

Yip, I realise that. Prices have increased significantly as well, certainly didn't pay R1000 when I dropped my 5S a year ago. Spent a week with them, got a 'new' refurbished one back.

Still easier/more cost-effective than going via insurance, and would lose my Outbonus etc.

Each to their own of course, many might opt to ignore it completely as an option...

You only get one replacement over 2 years now , no longer 2 replacements.

Check out the policy from iFix, looks like better value to me.

Saw that. So Core ups the initial price of iCare, and drops it down to only 1 replacement.

So R1299 to initiate, + R1000 for the replacement = R2299 total cost... Vs monthly insurance premiums to cover out-and-about for an iPhone +/- R290/month x24 = R6600 + R650 excess...

I don't know - iCare is a rip-off now compared to what it was last year/2014, but figure it's still better than the alternative?

iCare was a rip-off from the word go, its Core Group's attempts to circumvent a proper Apple warranty and further destroy the brand name in ZA while turning their major profits.

Your alternative could be to pick-up an Apple Care on Amazon or somewhere, send it to a mail forwarder and once you have it register your phone on it. I did that in the past.

The one sales person at Sandton City iStore claimed they will not repair iPhone's not bought in ZA anymore but I think that was usual iStore rubbish to sell their products. When I asked for that comment in writing to send to Apple to find out she promptly had an excuse... According to Apple's website (the proper Apple website) their warranties are repairable in ZA.

Interesting! Thanks for the feedback/suggestion.

Do your homework of course, in case something did change but I look at their T&C's yesterday and it seemed fine.

Also maybe try iFix's options if you are not worried about it breaking outside of the country.

Problem with iFix is you loose your warranty.

GGggrrrrrrrr. Seems Apple quality is slipping badly.

Got my iPhone 6s Plus 128Gb on upgrade today. Started setting it up etc. when I say a small black spec on the screen. Trying to wipe it away, I realise it's the display ----- DEAD PIXEL!! UGH!!!

Returned it, now they don't have stock. Hopefully tomorrow.

This was surely supposed to have been picked up by their quality control...

What a let-down....

Don't blame Apple, blame the people ruining its brand in this country...

My MacBook one was a while back, but i don't know lately. I honestly have not had any of my many apple products fail in a long time :)

I know someone who works for Apple US, I'll ask them to find out if a "US" Warranty is repairable here but from I know it should be.That being said, Core Group could still hit you with excuses to force you to pay, so its a gamble..

I had the same with my 6s 128GB out the box. Except it took 7 working days to get a replacement thanks to Vodacom...
