iPhone 7

I'm up for contract renewal but might as well hang on to my Sony Z3, nothing really exciting (except the Cat S60 thermal camera).

I believe the OP as he is always in touch with all things Chinese.

I gather you have no idea how big China is or how many people there are there. I have direct dealings with Chinese firms in Shenzhen but wouldn't take anything as gospel until it's actually announced.

So with no headphone jack, how will this work?

The rumour is that it might have a lightning fitting (and adaptor for 3.5 jacks) similar to some Android phones using a USB-C headphone fitting.

It will probably use the lightning jack and one should be able to get an expensive adapter to use the headphones we already have :D

I think I'm done with the big iPhones, currently my 6 is still doing just fine, I'll be waiting for the next version of the SE before I upgrade.

@OP can you confirm if the Plus model has 3GB RAM while the 4.7" model still maintains with 2GB RAM?

Thing the iPhone 7 should fix before I consider Apple worth to earn my hard earned cash.
  1. Drop price
  2. Keep head phone jack
  3. Increase screen resolution
  4. fix iOS
  5. drop the age old design already
  6. improve camera under low light

edit: I forgot about those bezels.

Without going any further on your list than #1, exchange rates might mean you actually will pay more.

1. Samsung pricing is more or less on par. Exchange rate isn't helping...

2. I agree... This is a dumb move.

3. Higher screen res means more battery usage... Our eyes can't tell the difference at a certain PPI and Full HD is close to that, if not at that. I've not noticed the difference between the 6 Plus and the Note 5 or the Z5 and the G5 screens. The normal 7 should get a bump to Full HD though, the Plus is fine.

4. Nothing wrong with iOS :D

5. Subjective... I quite like it but admit that they should look at a new design now.

6. Agree.

If this is really the screen resolution, then nope. I won't be grabbing a 7 plus. Having the dual lens sounds exciting, but the notes 7 screen sounds more exciting. Sigh apple

Hmm. Don't think I'll go for the note 7. Seems slow as a turtle.

With iOS 10 being considerably faster than iOS 9 and the new chip, the iPhone 7 will be fast and an absolute multitasking beast.

huh? <HD screen resolution. What is this? 2013 tech?

I hope those screen leaks are fake. I really expected a 2560 x 1440 res. But let's wait and see how it pans out.

  1. Samsung can justify its price, to some extent. Water proof. Higher resolution and better screen, better camera. better built quality. But it is still expensive.
  2. ...
  3. This is a mantra that i have heard repeat a lot but is simply not true. I owned a LG G4 and iPhone 6 at the same time and the difference is there and is noticeable. The iphone screen is fine in isolation but one you put in next to another phone you see the difference. Also other manufactures can do just fine with 2K displays i am sure Apple with their skills of optimization can be able to put a higher res screen with a too battery drain.
  4. why can i not use a custom ringing tone? why can i not transfer files via Bluetooth? why can i not choose default apps. why should my apps be arranged in nothing else but a grip? Why cant i share a phone directly from instagram to photos? Ever try attach a file from Dropbox while composing a email in gmail, an impossible task. Don't get me started on notifications. they suck.
  5. compare the note 7 and the 6splus and the note 7 is a clear winner. You know apple is doing bad when even samsung design a better looking more solid phone
  6. ....

1. Better build Quality? Which Samsung? Water proof is a nice add on, but not needed in my case. I've never dropped my phone in the toilet while peeing.

4. You don't know how to setup a custom ringtone? Not even going to bother on the rest. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you're an iOS noob.

5. Design and looks are subjective. Other than that, the iPhone 6s Plus wipes the floor with the note 7 performance wise. Wait for the 7 plus, that's the phone you should compare to it anyway.

From an SA perspective it might feel like that, but in the rest of the world (at least the countries where Apple trades directly) their aftersales service makes it a premium brand and worth the extra, especially compared to Samsung and the others. If I have a problem with my iPhone I can walk in to any Apple Store and get service there and then. If they can't fix it while I wait I will walk out with a new iPhone.

Samsung would still expect me to send my phone away for repair, with old fashioned rules like that I wouldn't perceive a Samsung to offer the same value as an iPhone (and I've had plenty of Samsungs, I have a Note 3 and S5 in a drawer in front me as I type).

why can i not use a custom ringing tone?

I've been using custom ringtones and text tones since the iPhone 4...

Waterproofing is very valuable and should come standard in every phone that cost that much. The only reason you are undermining it is because the iPhone does have that feature. If it did, it would be the best thing since sliced bread. This discussion my be moot anyway. I am hearing that they new phones will have that feature.

It is possible but it is a pain in the behind. Which was the point of my post. Ios has an ability of making the most simple tasks complex.

The iPhone has a kickass processor. That is didn't dispute.
