I really hope 8 is not going to be priced out of our market. they talking about it costing in the region of $1100. I think the mock ups of the 8 are gorgeous but if they come in at the $1100 price point, its going to be way out of my price range.
Would suck tremendously.
Imagine they flip the script and drop it to $499
To take marketshare - they will give android/google a run for their money and samsung will piss its pants

The event is probably going to be in the second week of September, previous events were held as follows:
iPhone 5S: Tuesday, September 10, 2013
iPhone 6: Tuesday, September 9, 2014
iPhone 6S: Wednesday, September 9, 2015
iPhone 7: Wednesday, September 7, 2016
That makes it seem that the event could be Wednesday, September 6 or more likely Tuesday, September 12.

I saw a rumour 2 or so weeks ago which suggested exactly this, naming could just be iPhone and iPhone plus and then the so called iPhone 8 would probably be called iPhone X or iPhone Pro.
Remember the iPhone 8 or X or Pro will be marketed as a Pro device at the high end of the market, the idea is that a lot of people won't be able to afford it, just like a lot of people can't afford a MacBook Pro. The 7s and 7s plus will still be the top devices for the mainstream, with the 8 being a Pro device for a select few who will buy it just because they can.
My guess is that it will be called iPhone X or Pro and that it will be priced between $1299 and $1599, so probably from R22K to R28K. It will sell like hot kakes and my guess is that we won't see stock of them in SA this year, all available stock will be gobbled up by the countries where iPhone generally gets launched first, US, UK etc.
With all the leaks these days Apple can't wow us anymore like in the old days, but despite all the leaks I still hope the so called iPhone 8 will have something special, something nobody expected, something the rumour mill didn't pick up on at all, or something the rumours had totally wrong.
