Hi everyone,

Just wanted to know if anyone knows where you can buy an iPhone at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Thanks, tried to import but it was a few weeks ago when there was no stock at most US apple stores..really starting to wish it was available locally through one of our Apple stores..

Wait until the 3 g models come out soon. Your SA cell tower will thank you. :)

I can get one for about 399 down the road... tempting, but not buying yet. ;)

You cant really find them in the apple stores - stock sells out in 15min ;(

Problem is they carry duties, and US sales tax in most places, so they are a lot more expensive to import than people realise (if you bring it in legit).

If you are interested in a phone, PM me, I just received one from the USA.....

You should have waited a few weeks.

Fortunately if you purchased it directly from apple you get a 30 window to return items with only a small restocking charge.

BTW - Sales tax only apply if the online store has a physical presence in the state that you are shipping to. This is all due to the kindness of the Internet Tax Freedom Act - SA could do with something like that.

As per everyone else, I recommend just hanging on a tad bit longer! 3G iPhone is coming soon soon!

If you are desperate, give the guys down at Applecart a call and I'm sure they will be able to assist you, they do have stock. www.applecart.co.za

Yep, there is a number of people selling them. PM me. You shouldn't be paying more than R6000 for it...

Honestly... don't be silly, just wait for the iPhone 2.0 to arrive, as it will be coming to south africa... why get a product that you have to unlock and can't update cause you have to wait for the unlock software to support new versions first, when you can just wait well... a few weeks longer ;)

agreed with @evolution - there's no point in buying the old one unless you're getting it ridiculously cheap. Which you won't. Not in S.A. Unless it's stolen.

Thats not entirely true... you should be able to pick up a legit 8GB iPhone for around 4k... thats the current going rate.

Can't wait for the WWDC! :)

That's still more expensive than they were selling for here (£169 = which is under 3k). By ridiculously cheap I mean R1000-1500.

legit iPhone in SA? perhaps its not stolen but its not legit in terms of being unmodified, as there is no such thing as an unlocked iPhone sold by Apple... not yet anyway :)

Okay... by legit I mean not stolen. :)

iPhone for R1000 lol..

Officially: it'll be here in August. Thats straight from the Vodacom ******* regional manager. He checked his Blackberry when I was speaking to him and showed me the e-mail.
