iPhone battery replacement options

OEM means generic. If they don't have the 2 week turn around time you can be damn sure it's generic as that bullshittery is imposed by Core.

Also if they don't ask you to disable Find my iPhone that is also a sure sign of it being a generic.

That being said just get the generic, unless you are in warranty. Will make no difference at all to your life.

This is not true. There are genuine OEM batteries you can get. Apple’s Original batteries are manufactured by different Chinese companies,Huizhou Desay Battery Co. Ltd being one of them. You can bet some of those exact batteries end up on the market just missing the apple logo sign. Also Find My iPhone has got nothing to do with changing a battery on an iPhone. The problem is most of the repair shops use the word OEM loosely and lie a lot to people.

Yes that was my point people (these shops) use the word OEM too loosely and it’s not a genuine Apple certified battery but just an OEM-spec one like any other.

As I said though nothing wrong with those uncertified batteries if you are out of warranty. Big fan of Apple Doctor myself.

The official (Apple) battery swop out process requires you to turn Find my iPhone off. Nobody has confirmed exactly why but my own suspicion is that if it’s left on the location data is in the diagnostics report so it’s probably a security/privacy related process enforced by Apple.

OE vs OEM

This is common in car parts.
Part X from dealer is made my company A
Part Y from the dealer is made by company B

But you can purchase part Y made by company A from goldwagen, and it is OEM part

I need to take my 7 in for a battery replacement at iStore. I've made a booking online already, but does anyone know if they offer a loan phone?
I know it's Core, but I'm hoping...

Took my iPhone 6 in for its 2nd battery replacement today at Apple doctor at cellucity. The first battery replacement lasted a year, however it came “loose” not that long after getting it down. Reason I replaced it now again is the phone was just abt unusable - phone would die when battery got to 50ish% and it didn’t take long to drop from full to that. Hoping to get another year or so out of this.
