My wife has an iphone, makes me no expert, but...

Vodashop and other approved Vodacom dealers do trade-ins, but they dont sell demo or used phones. As someone sugested earlier, it might have been a staff member that sold it as used. Was there an invoice ? If yes, take it back.

My other suggestion is a shot in the dark (pardon the Pistorius pun) but if there is an option for lost passwords, maybe he will get an email and pass ut on but i dont know apple products well so i'm not sure.

i decided to return the iPhone, told the guy at the vodashop to sort it out and in future not sell phones that still are linked to the origional owner.
