Hi ! I'm looking for some assistance.

The wife received a iPhone as a new phone. The phone was setup and all is working fine but for some reason I am unable to activate the iMessage feature. It only shows a message that it is waiting for activation.

Is there anything MTN needs to do on their side or how can I get this resolved ?
 
Hi there, please go to "Settings > Messages > activate iMessage". There isn't anything that MTN still needs to do for activation of this service.
 
Did u port this number?
I've seen imessage not be able to send the international sms when its on a ported number, so it can never activate using the phone number

You can send, get billed, but you receive nothing. It happens on 8ta.
 
Having the exact same thing on my fiances iphone that ported over to mtn tonight from cell c (8ta number)

I ported to mtn earlier this month from cell c (voda number) and didnt have this issue

Keeps doing this, enabled and disabled imessage numerous times and rebooted... Will wait and try again tomorrow i guess
 
yea.. when imessage tries to activate.. it sends a sms to apple.. so the sms to +1 555 whatever.. cannot get through.. so imessage cannot activate. Try just send a normal sms to anyone overseas and see if it works, wouldn't work for the ported number i was playing with.
