iPhone in SA? When?

We need iTunes store in SA before the iPhone can be released, I have an iPhone but you need to unlock it first to use it.
 
We won't be getting the iPhone here.
U even struggle to get Apple software here, the iStore's usually don't have stock.

I'm getting an iPhone in April.
Sister is going to the USA with my shopping list.

I wont say its crap but it's definitely different from the norm...
It's getting an upgrade soon, next firmware will have lots of goodies and cool games like spore, also sun will be releasing Java etc.
 
Apparently Altech cellular has them (one of my clients said he bought his from them), you need a software hack and you need to slice up your sim to fit into some little plastic holder to bypass the sim lock.

I played with one and it's awesome, used to think it was crap but now I don't, the UI is AWESOME!!!

ICASA wont allow them to sell it. (I think)

Dont need to cut a sim any more, you can use ziphone, independence or iPlus2 which is a one click software unlock that can unlock the iPhone automatically in under 3 min
 
OK. We are unlikely to get the iPhone here soon.

I would guess that when the iPhone 2.0 (the software update) comes out in June then Apple will be launching the iPhone app store and then they might have a system for activating the iPhone in territories that do no have them.

This is assuming that the App store is distinctly separate from the iTunes store or that it is can be run separately where necessary.

I wouldn't expect to see it until then. In fact I don't think that the iPhone will be here before a 3G version is available. Mostly because unless it goes to Cell C (which would be crazy) neither MTN or Vodacom would be overly keen for any reason other than the hype factor.
 
yeah only once itunes is in sa then only will they launch it
