It will work... but if you want to know if it will work with 3G than the answer is not so simple.
If you bought it in the US like I did, AT&T uses 3G over the 850Mhz band and therefore the US iPhone is a triband 3G phone working on the 850/1900/2100 MHz bands.
MTN and Vodacom are 2100MHz so you will be good with them. But Cell C is operating its 3G service on the 900MHz band so no go for you.
I don't know what bands the South Africa iPhone supports, but it could well be the exact same hardware... so no HSPA+ love for you then.

Anyone with a South Africa iPhone 4 here?

Microsims for IPhone

So, the call center says that they can't help me with IPhone queries... which irritates me. All I want to know is whether there is some place I can get my cotton picking hands on a Micro Sim for the IPhone 4 thats collecting dust in my bag of tricks.

Cresta hasn't a clue what I'm taking about, though they never do.

Some of the cellphone outlets have a gadget that looks like a stapler that cuts it perfectly...the MTN shop in Hyde Park mall cut mine when I got my iphone
