Hi all
I have a bit of a conundrum. My iphone 6s and ipad stopped charging in the most bizarre way, roughly at the same time.
The iphone charging port had some lint in, which I cleaned with a plastic tooth brush, ipad was clean.

All the below charging methods have been tested to work with my wife's ipad and my older iphone 5.

My ipad would not charge off Macbook air USB port, car 12V cigarette charger, it's own wall charger. With it's own wall charger it says "not charging". The ipad does charge with my iphone 6s wall charger albeit slowly.
My iphone would not have any of it. Impossable to charge.

What boggles me is that this is happening with both devices at the same time. And that the ipad would charge withe one charger but not the rest, even though the rest would charge an older iphone 5 and my wife's ipad.

Advice appreciated..

I've had very odd results from different cables - maybe try a known good cable if you can find one.

I've tried 4 original apple cables that work on my wife's ipad and my iphone 5. Must say you have a point. The ipad only charge with my iphone 5 wall charger with specifically only one cable and not the other cables.

I'll probably have to go to ifix or istore or such place.

Use a magnifying glass/loupe to inspect the charging port. One iPhone that gave me a lot of trouble had a build-up/deposit of stuff inside the port, on the opposite face to the contacts. As I understand it, the lightning connector can be inserted in either orientation, so presumably is powered on both faces of the connector. I can only surmise that the connector was shorting on the deposit that was present in the port. I cleaned the port out with a dental pick and it's been working just fine with that same cable for the last year or so. Check your cables. Do they have that grey/black 'stain' on the lightning contacts?
