I'm sure you guys are aware of the new "affordable" way to have a new iPhone each year. Please look at these prices for the 16GB models and tell me what you think? This does not include data, minutes, nada, just the phone.

Yes you get a new phone every year as opposed to your old contract, which is 2, but with this you need to give your old iPhone back to Apple!

THIS MAKES NO SENSE!

You're renting a phone.... for a crazy fee, to give it back, to get a new rental?

You're leasing a phone and get a yearly upgrade.
Like any other leasing, I like it. It's not for everyone though.

Like most things, I have no desire to own a phone. Leasing makes complete sense

read the fine print.... if you upgrade after 12 months you still need to settle the remaining 12 months + now you have a new 24 month lease.

To me this is like the buy back deals you get when you get locked into buying a new car every two years, it's not cheaper because you never get any of that money back and you never actually own the car in question....

I don't buy cars or boats. Leasing is a better option.
Same applies for phones

Only thing about this which could potencially end up costing the user a lot of money leaving you in a endless pit of big payments is after the first 12 months, after getting your second phone. You must give back your old phone and will get a trade in amount for it, but what if the trade in amount you get back falls short of what you still oh on the original contract, then you sit with that down payment as well. Then there's also your next phone, the next 24 month agreement, don't think the iPhone 7 will cost the same as the 6s, it will be more expensive and get more and more expensive with every phone after that.
I agree with the idea of getting a new phone every 12 months and understandably they will charge a premium, but I think they made it too complicated. Keep it to a 24 month contract, but you pay the same every month over the entire contract perioud, then if you go traid in your old phone after 12 months they just keep the trade in value, basically give you nothing for the old phone. If doing it like that there will be no hidden costs, you know what you sign up for and you know exactly what you'll pay over the 24 months, no surprises, I guaranty more people will sign up if they do it like that.

Yeah I understand what you're saying, but then I would rather pay more on my normal contract, and have the contract duration shortened to 12 months... Makes more sense to me and I'm sure Cell C already does this, that way you pay more (like you do with the Apple payment plan) but you get to keep all your old phones and sell them if you like....
