thats interesting. a friend of mine just got a 3GS and I probably need to help him jailbreak. how do you check the bootrom and which one is and which one isn't vulnerable?

afaik, if the phone is 3.1.2 OTB (out of the box) then you can only do a "tethered" jailbreak i.e. jailbreak each time the phone reboots.
