iPhone versus BlackBerry in SA

BB yes ... But iPhone I completely disagree with you. The only thing the N8 has on the iPhone is the HDMI connectivity and the 12MP camera and FM transmitter reciever. Its MicroSD vs Flash memory.

The iPhone's Multimedia capabilities are the Gold Standard. No phone can beat it, and I highly doubt with all those specs and high end hardware the Nokia is going to come even close to the iPhone.
It comes down to simplicity. iPhone just works and it "just works" blerry well. No hassle no fuss. You put movies, series, music, etc on the phone and go.
Apple app store vs Nokia app store?? Go have a look at the type of Multimedia apps available to the iPhone. There's some serious hardcore video and music editing apps out there.
Nokia is not even in the same league... I'd take the 3GS over the N8 any day...

The iPHone is more multimedia orientated than it is a phone....
 
You guys are forgetting that most people want a phone, and just a phone. Not some mini multimedia, app running pc.
 
Ok, so how multi media orientated can it be if you can just simply load multimedia content on to it via the internet or bluetooth or USB mass storage mode? I'm not even talking about playback support for different formats of media.

The fruit just aren't ripe enough yet to be used in multimedia cocktails.

Appreciate the optimism but I think, as is the case with WinMo, marketshare lost is marketshare lost. Love to be proven wrong though. Very mature reply to my attempt-to-troll by the way Roux... I'm putting you back in the "ppl I like box" :)

I'll have to see that for myself, you are the only Andriod user that has ever said that to me BTW. Android may be great but has yet to gain the market, great products don't always translate in to good sales

Vodacom mismanaged BB as well. The iPhone is a toy, its only useful when jailbroken. You can't really compare it to BB or Android.

Also get over the free data thing... there are a million other reasons to have a BB and they are way more important than free surfing.

It must be awful for you, living in a world where everybody else is wrong and your correct views are totally ignored.

Just be careful, RIM and the rest of the cartel are monitoring this thread and you may find yourself being visited by some men in black suits in the not too distant future.

Put it to you this way.. I am constantly learning of how to use my iPhone from a multimedia perspective in new ways... I currenty use my iPhone for the following (multimedia related):

-> Music on the Go (walking, working , gyming etc..)
-> Music in my Car (3.5mm jack connectst to my deck)
-> Music at home (both wired and wireless... I got one of those Bose Sound Dock portable jobies.. Simply Class!)
-> Audio Books (tons!!)
-> Kindle ebooks (tons!)
-> You Tube downloads (music videos, piano tutorial lessons, funny stuff, personal stuff, game demo's, etc, etc, etc)
-> I've got a home server and uncapped ADSL. Mixture of uTorrent and automation scripts that downloads stuff (music, movies, etc) via pre-loaded RSS's of torrents I filter on via Web interface on iPhone and syncs with my PS3 media server and iPhone when over the Wifi network at home)
-> Synthetic piano/guitar/drums/bass/percussion based apps with full support for MIDI which I hook up to my Digital Piano and learn to play new pieces (paid and free) downloaded within the app! (PRICELESS!!) My Piano teacher is even Jealous! hahaha....

I dont do much video editing. I use Photoshop extensively for graphics and web design so I end up using my PC. I've used the photo editing tools available for iPhone (Photoshop Mobile) and its quite awesome. I just prefer doing it with my mouse on a 3 x 24" Screens...

These are things I use on daily if not weekly basis. Things work "so well" i've to limit myself as to what I donwload. Otherwise I'll sit and watch stuff till 3-4 am and be stuffed the next day. I am super OCD. If its downloaded i'll watch it! Once my a$$ is glued to the couch its game over!

If the Nokia can even achieve half of the above i'll eat my iPhone! :P
 
Main thing for me was a real keyboard.

iPhone doesn't have one - so I didn't even look twice.
 
I thought the exact same thing at first... I type approx 100 wpm progressive on a keyboard... I thought physical qwerty keys would be better.
the touch screen on the iPhone is faster than typing on physical qwerty keys on keypad equivalent.. Tried and tested...

I can get to about 55-60 wpm on my iPhone Qwerty keyboard landscape mode... Compared to the BB (9700) I got no more than 30 wpm...

The only complaint I have is the switch to special characters, the full stop, etc... minor things... But I've gotten use to it. i.e. (double space for full stop, **** like that etc..)

Maybe you should give it a third look... they always say 3rd time lucky :P
 
Yeah I type faster on an iPhone than with a phone with a keyboard. The autocorrect and predict really work wonders.
 
You guys are joking about the keyboard. I easily get 70 wpm on my blackberry bold although I've never tried swype. Although if you have huge fingers then the 9700 could be a problem. Blackberry has autocorrect and word prediction (the latter is only from OS5 onwards). All my mybroadband posts are from my Bold and I can type long stories with ease.
 
Absolutely if I wished to take 10 times as long to write something I would certainly use Symbian and I thought you had given up on symbian since even Nokia no longer believe it is worth putting on high end phones.
