iPhone viruses hit iPads

Only affects jailbroken iPhones and iPads, who haven't bothered to change their default root password from "alpine", or who have not disabled SSH.

... or don't jailbreak your phone. Though as I am not an iPhone user, does that mean the phone is too boring then?

If you're a hectic geek you'll want to jailbreak. Otherwise it's fine as it is.

It's not a virus. If you jailbreak, and SSH is on, anyone can SSH into your phone using the password alpine. Thus change your password first thing when you jailbreak.

i think the point is that apple is finally becoming a mass market brand and is now seen as a viable malware platform.
malware doesn't need root access to operate.
this signals a coming of age in the apple stable.
up till now it's been easy to cater to the niche, because apple could pretty much dictate what the niche gets.
but, as their market widens, it will be interesting to see how apple responds to the problems inherent in catering to the masses.

do they further restrict the device in an attempt to retain control?
do they lock it up further with proprietary protocols and processes?
or do they price up in order to stay with a small user base?
apple's success in some ways, could also be their weakness.

This one does, and I don't know of any other malware for the iPhone.
do they further restrict the device in an attempt to retain control?
The only way to install software on an iPhone/iPad is through the App Store. So Apple already has complete control, they can't really have anymore.

This "virus" can only affect jailbroken iPhones, who don't change their password.

KEYWORD here is "JAILBROKEN iphone"
I'm almost tempted to get cocky and say BRING IT ON! I want to see if people can do it. On PURE iPhone.
