IPTV - any good?

Used another provider last year and the service was terrible.
The reseller didn't have a cooking clue how streaming and/or networking worked.
When he told me that I needed to upgrade the RAM and increase my HD space on my TV box was when I decided that I'm not renewing with him again.
His answer to my buffering complaints were always "mine is playing fine" even though he was never able to provide me with actual video footage of his "working fine"
He was R150 a month for, shite service.
Stumbled upon another provider while visiting friends and all I could think to myself was "Wow... this is what IPTV is supposed to look like."
His SP was R50 more expensive than the one I was using but the clarity and buffer free content is what sold me.
My friend arranged a 24 hour trial for me and I signed up as soon as the trial expired.
I've been with them for the last 6 months and I probably had, collectively, around 15 seconds of buffering over this time period.
I'm on a 40/40 RSAWeb Fiber Link but my sister runs the same provider on a 6mbps RADIO link and it works flawlessly for her too.

Hello, who is your provider. Mine is shocking at the moment

...but the problem with the streaming services such as Netflix is that you need to "engage." You need to click to watch something. It's a different mentality. I want a passive service that'll play some stuff without thinking about it too much. I also enjoy commercials playing in between tv shows. It would be perfect if something like Tubi.tv hd had "channels" rather than shows or something?

Any thoughts?

DStv :giggle:

Hello. I currently have no cable subscription, but I have IPTV that's tied to my high speed Internet provider. But, I'm looking to replace my Internet, but when I do so, the iptv goes with it. We don't watch much tv, we have netflix and a Plex media server.

But what we do like to do in the evening is throw on the TV and have it in the background. It's usually sitcoms like Big Bang Theory or The Simpsons. Can anyone suggest an IPTV service that will work on Apple TV boxes? Yes, I know that Netflix offers a ton of content (or Hulu, or Youtube, or Disney+ or Prime) but the problem with the streaming services such as Netflix is that you need to "engage." You need to click to watch something. It's a different mentality. I want a passive service that'll play some stuff without thinking about it too much. Buy a radio, and listen to your favorite station.

Sadly showmax is now mobile only. And I'm not going to watch football alone on a phone
i use a IOS based app to stream on my phone, it doesnt allow you to cast it to the tv but i can mirror to my tv, its free, i dont always get the time so dont really want to be spending moola on it, like DSTV or showkak

Answer for me was to move past streaming. The studios don't like that so quite a bit of a learning curve now, but going back to good old downloading again has ended up making life much easier. Manage more than fine with 20Mbps (two people). There's enough legal / legally-responsible-for-their-actions sites to work with.

you not big into sport? thats the catch

IPTV services has come a long way. Yes, it's not perfect, there will always be buffering, looping and down time issues. The picture quality from IPTV services has also improved allot over the last few years. Some IPTV services even provides 4K live sports streaming, even tho its most probably FHD 1080P at 50-60 fps. There are even talks of Raw 4k live sports streams. These are very scares and takes up a lot of bandwidth on servers. I have been with a provider with live 4K sports streams for months and the picture quality was excellent. He had to discontinue the high-end package a few months ago because of a low demand for 4k live sports streams. He just re-instated the service again because of a high demand for 4K live sports streams again. Even raw UK 4k Sports streams this includes the F1. The package is a little bit pricy. The service does have buffering here and there and it's not perfect. I've been on the standard package for a few months now and I'm really happy with it. I will soon switch over to the high-end package to test the 4k streaming again.

Some IPTV services (Wakatv as well) currently have issues because of the undersea cable break. Especially those that is streaming from DSTV. Luckily there are multiple channels streaming the same stuff.

A warning to anyone looking at using IPTV. A friend signed up with https://iptvsmart.co.za/
And paid almost R 1000 for a 12 months subscription, after 4 months' his playlist is empty and they don't respond to any emails.

Please stay away

Sorry for your friend. Education is expensive.

But really, did he even look at the reviews? I'm not saying that's definitely not Chris Khumalo, or Alex Govender, because I don't know them but.....

I believe to quote P.T. Barnum : "A Fool and his money are easily parted"

Just as it is recommended you buy your Fixed LTE data month to month - as your service provider might decide to reconfigure their tower without consulting you. So you buy IPTV month to month, as the guy selling might be a scammer, or might be shut down, or .... , or .... , or ...

Meh and it's n ot even that cheap.

Iptorrents or torrentday vip is like $10 monthly and gives you VIP on the torrent site and access to https://privateiptvaccess.com with 2 x connections. It's probably not the best out there but it works okay.

Not technically the right sub but I see privateiptvaccess offers super sport - I've noticed that if I stream super sport from the web vs the iOS app, there's a 5 minute or so delay on the web with the app being closer to the actual game time.

Does anyone know if this is the same for any of the iptv services?

A friend reports that there is a 3 minute delay on the DSTV Streaming App. No longer have DSTV to confirm, that this is now normal, or just one of the regular DSTV issues.
