IPTV - any good?

If they can sort out their buffering issues I might consider iptv again. Until then, pass!

Your ISP needs better routing, between your chosen service provider, and yourself, most times, but that is also not always within their ability. I often hit the corregations in the Internet Super Highway, hard at Marseille in France :(

IPTV Services is a risk you take if you do not want to pay for DSTV. You will always have buffering issues on IPTV services. There is no perfect IPTV service. The one day I could not watch any live sports because of constant buffering issues. The very next day everything was playing flawless even the 4K (1080p 50fps) live sports streaming was playing fine.
If you want 100% connectivity with no issues, DSTV Satellite is the route to go, not the DSTV streaming app.

Fixes that might help to sort out the buffering issues on IPTV services,
Switch off your internet for about 10 minutes.
Clear your cache on the app for the IPTV player you are using. (Do not clear your data on the app)
Use VPN if your ISP is restricting you somehow.
Internet speed is too slow.
Your streaming device is too old (Some Chinese brands issues) are unable to handle IPTV services.
Or your IPTV service provider is just really bad. (I experienced this with a Test trial the other day with a new service provider)

May heaven help you with your satellite reception if the wind picks up or if it actually rains decently.

Some great advice here.
Not that I would ever use a service like this.

Only things I would add is
  • that there is often a timeline on customer satisfaction. Experience is usually good as the service reaches capacity, then dips when it becomes too popular. Then they either increase capacity and things become good again, or it gets bad and people move. Go month to month if you don't fully trust the service, and move on when it gets bad.
  • Have a backup service that has a different origin. That was spread risk, but then it becomes about R300-R400 per month, but often still much better range than dstv with Movies and Series.
  • I have much better experience on 200Mbps line than I did on 50, but that could be demand on my side.
  • I have also, in the past, had better experience where my mobile provider has got good signal strength than I had with either fibre or ADSL.

I once had an IPTV service that had a 24/7 support service, that was knowledgeable, intelligent and pleasant to deal with, their streaming was superb.

They put DSTV to shame.

They where just too good - so got shut down. They where not cheap either at $25 a month, but well worth it.

I would not mind finding them or equivalent again.

Then i will not be getting it. You cannot still have buffering in today's age with the technology we have, and my stuff is quite good (internet speed, fibre, vpn, etc.)

"They" being?
The buffering is two sided issue. Sometimes the IPTV servers are congested and sometimes the ISP is prioritising some international traffic - You will see all local stuff will still be fine (YT, NF, etc.) but your IPTV service will be slow. VPN might help with that issue.

I've just started with one earlier today, took a while for the test account details to be sent

So far its got absolutely everything, DStv cannels, supersport live etc etc and about 5 million other channels from every other country.

So far I cant fault it,

EDIT: Removed provider name, seems to be illegal to note based on post above

I'll hint: Its the logical abbreviation amd and then the word for where livestock lives, note to look for for the co.za domain when googling
how to get m3u for dstv my good sir

Been using an IPTV service for about two years now. The whole point for me is F1, MotoGP, WSBK, the Premier League, the Champions League and Rugby. Everything else is a bonus and there's a lot of bonus...

Costs me R160 a month and I'd happily pay that just for the sports I mentioned.

For me, the IPTV service, as well as a SmartDNS to bypass the geo blocking from Netflix and co is about as good as you can get.
Hi. Is it possible for you to DM your service provider. Thank you.
