IPv6 boost

I think it's good that it's coming, at least we won't run out of address space again any time soon. However, that being said, I have looked at IPv6 and feel pretty confused. The address style alone leaves me seeing double.

Imagine trying to read that over the phone compared to IPv4 where it's so simple.

so how does ip6 work then? 196.168.0.0.1?

I can see it now; PTA IT calls me to connect to our mail server;

Yo Nick, whats the servers IP;
Yo Lucas, it's 2001:0db8:85a3:08d3:1319:8a2e:0370:7334
Did you get that or must I e-mail it?

:eek: hahaha :D

Thats why DNS was invented.... :p

One thing that IPv6 is definitely going to do... force people to implement DNS properly :D

mmm! i smell money to be made here!

The previous format was designed with humans in mind. IPv6 format was designed with the assumption that humans would never have to handle the addresses manually.
