Unless America nukes every last population centre, Iranian victory is pretty much guaranteed. America has a 3rd generation army that will be fighting a 4th generation army, and it has been shown time and time and time again that a 3rd generation army is helpless against such a foe.
Iran has been stocking up on sniper anti-tank guns which a single person can operate. How are you going to safely move your tanks through urban areas if a lone sniper can take them out? Snipers are easier to replace (in terms of financial cost) than tanks. Israeli tanks popped like balloons against Hezbollah forces last year, and from what I recall they've got even MORE armour than American tanks. The rockets Hezbollah used was supplied by Iran (who got the technology/hardware from Russia). The rockets are dirt cheap, can be hidden almost anywhere, and can be fired by 1 person. How is America going to defend against such attacks? To put it bluntly, it's impossible.
90% of the IED attacks in Iraq is believed to be perpetrated by the Sunni *minority* (who are being supplied by Saudi Arabia). If America attacks Iran, the Shia sect in Iraq is going to become very hostile very quickly towards the occupying forces. American forces can barely keep the Sunnis under control. How are they going to deal with the Shiites as well? They'd basically need to double their standing forces overnight. These surge forces Bush is promoting won't cut it by any means. American troops in Iraq will be overwhelmed, and there's almost nothing American forces can do about it - no matter where they strike, in terms of attacking the enemy they're going to punch air, each and every time.
And Iran is no Iraq. It has not had to deal with 13 years of embargoes along with constant bombing. It's people are generally loyal to the regime at least as far as outside threats are concerned. Iraqis were never loyal to Saddam. The first gulf war was largely a case of shooting abandoned tanks.
