Iran to hit Turkey if nuclear program targeted by Israel, U.S., general says. A senior commander of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard says the country will target NATO's missile defense shield in Turkey if the U.S. or Israel attacks the Islamic Republic.

Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the Guards' aerospace division, is quoted by the semiofficial Mehr news agency as saying the warning is part of a new defense strategy to counter what it sees as an increase in threats from the U.S. and Israel.

He says Iran will now respond to threats with threats rather than a defensive position.

Tehran says NATO's early warning radar station in Turkey is meant to protect Israel against Iranian missile attacks if a war breaks out with Israel.

Turkey agreed to host the radar in September as part of NATO's missile defense system.

Earlier Saturday, another Iranian defense official threatened retaliation against Israel if any of its nuclear or security sites are attacked.

"If Israeli missiles hit one of our nuclear facilities or other vital centers, then they should know that any part of Israeli territory would be target of our missiles, including their nuclear sites," General Yadollah Javani of the Revolutionary Guards told ISNA news agency.

"They (Israel) know that we have the capability to do so."

Javani, the former head of the military's political department, was referring to mounting speculation that Israel would strike Iran's nuclear facilities after the International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran had tested designs used to make nuclear warheads.

Want to build illegal nuclear weapons? Threaten Israel? You will get what you deserve.

you have no idea do you.

Everyone know it's impossible for Israel to perform a 'clean' strike on Iran. So like a small little dog all they have left is to make irritating noises to scare off their enemies.

its a bluff, a stare down. Who will blink first.

Research the political fallout from Operation Opera in 1981. If Israel strikes first they will lose credibility, galvanize anti-israel sentiment in the middle east and guarantee Iranian nuclear proliferation.

Israel needs grid iron nerves and to wait for Iran to blink first, such as attacking an airline or ship. Resurrect 2009 election sentiment with international condemnation for aggression and the supreme council will have no room to move.

However its obvious that wont happen. It appears in my opinion that both sides want armed conflict . Which I find sad...

Because Iran are signatories of the Nuclear non proliferation treaty, Israel aren't

Aaah. Okay.

*edit*

Although the more I think about this, the less sense it's making.

Israel refuses to be involved with the treaty; Builds nukes anyway = Good.

Iran involved in treaty; Builds nukes anyway = Bad.

I mean, neither are great outcomes, but somehow, it's almost as if because Israel are pretending not to have nukes, they are somehow just exempt from the discussion.

Man, exactly...Who/what gives a right for one country to have weapons x,y,z while another country cannot? This is what is causing issues. If we don't want people building nukes, NO ONE should have nukes, that includes Mr. USA and Mrs. UK along with the rest of the of the countries that have them.
