Is AbsoluteHosting down?

Connectivity to one of the two links has been restored, with additional work still ongoing.

Updates will be posted as soon as possible.

thanks for the update.

That said, this outage raises a serious concern. The fibre break was caused by contractor work in the area — which happens — but what's worrying is that both the primary and redundant fibre links were routed through the same microduct. So when one got damaged, both went down. That completely defeats the purpose of redundancy. If both paths share the same physical route, it’s not really a backup — it's a single point of failure.

Also, the photo shared on WhatsApp is... something else. The workmanship is honestly shocking. It looks more like a chaotic art piece than a fibre installation. No proper planning or protection — just a mess waiting to fail.

Really hope this prompts a serious review of how failovers are being implemented and the quality of installations going forward.

Update as received, repairs to the second link have been delayed and the service provider is still working on brining this link online. During this time we are still treating this outage as ongoing and will continue to monitor the situation and we will provide updates as they are received.

I suspect the JINX peering might have gone down.

Everything is routing via NAP now, not an issue, just an observation :)

Edit: Whatsapp notification about it just came through as i posted.

Hey Jason, you beat us to it.

That is correct, jinx currently affected and teams are on route to resolve

Today has been an Absolute disaster with clients screaming as its month end and this impacts my clients payroll system.

I just noticed that absolute hosting no longer list africa data centers as its location and now list digital parks africa,

When did we move? was the previous weekend long "outage" related to any moves or migration?
This is a major step down for Absolute Hosting, and may point to the fact that the company is in serious financial difficulty. Moving up the road to a low-end bargain basement data centre can only be driven by financial strain.

Look at this guy jumping to conclusions with his wiener in hand... Sheesh man, I wish I had half the confidence you do without knowing all the facts!

Silence from the employees here on Mybb to my previous questions, Moving to a new DC without any communication or notice is a big issue for me as my DR is hosted with HostAfrica who are in the same DC. My HostAfrica servers did not go down with the previous cable break

I selected Absolutehosting because of the location and told my customers they are hosted in a tier4 DC so I would appreciate some clarity from the team.

How do I know if my servers are hosted in africa data centers or digital parks africa?
Will new servers be setup in digital parks africa?
Can servers be moved back to africa data centers upon request?
