Normally I run on my Telkom account which works perfectly never really have issues with it, I keep an afrihost account for when I go download crazy and use up all my cap by like the second of the month or if on the rare occasion there is a issue with my Telkom account.

But so far every time when I switched to afrihost there service is just crap surfing is slow u cant stream on youtube and you can forget about trying to do any kind of gaming on afrihost as its just laggy or laggin spiking all the time.

So I guess that's why they are so cheap compared to everybody else (what you pay is what you get). they really do have a crappy network don't they? Cant wait for the new Telkom services to kick in as then I wont really need to use afrihost frustrating network again.

I am on capped account with them so I cant even blame uncapped
my Line speed is synced and 10megs

Sorry to hear about this, it's really not what a capped experience should be like. Capped accounts are unshaped so they should give priority to any service you are using, and there is no QoS applied by us.

Please drop me a PM, so we can help you with whatever is happening, as this doesn't seem to be a general network problem (capped accounts are performing well, to my knowledge). I'm sure we can find out what the cause of this is :)

Their capped accounts fly for me!

I run multiple accounts from various ISP's and when one is not performing I turn to a Afrihost capped account to verify where the fault lies IE line or ISP. You can pretty much set your watch to it.... IMHO....

I've had a free capped account for years and love it. Its what convinced me to go uncapped with them. After 3 months I've cancelled my uncapped account

I have had Afrihost (but not anymore) some years and past few months have been very disappointed by my speed. Generally browsing slowed and experienced more than usual lag in BF3. Most recently I had a Afrigamer account but that did not appear to help.
Youtube noticeably slowed where previously streamed fine it became impossible to watch due to buffering.
I have a 4mb line which hurts even more since others on the cheaper 2mb claimed faster speeds. Downloads, where before ran consistently at full speed became erratic sometimes good sometimes bad.
After changing I have found improved performance on MWEB albeit an uncapped account.
Why does spellcheck want to change Afrihost to Hoarfrost and wtf is that?
I too have used multiple SP's but have definitely had poor performance the second half of last year.

Not trying to be funny or anything but I don't know if I can be asked to go through the hole testing thing to prove that its not on my end, the fact that my Telkom account runs 100% means that its not on my end, I even tried out openwebs test accounts and they run perfectly aswell and tbh I only use afrihost when I have too and as from feb Telkom wont be hard capping anymore so I wont really need afrihost anyways.

I do accept that running a different ISP account gives you a different result, but also, from our side, this is not the general experience. As someone posted, their capped account works well for them and they get full speeds. So we'd need to figure out what are the intermediary issues which could cause you to have a different experience to the majority of our capped clients. I've got my own personal Afrihost capped account (which I had before I ever started working here) and it's never let me down so far. So you can understand that it's worrying that you are not having the same experience.

Would be great if you would DM me, but totally up to you :)

Is Afrihost really this crap. Simple answer. Yes. Since the MTN move its all been downhill even thou they claim the opposite.

How can you say that? Have you been on the network in the last month? - they have improved the network to levels far better than last year already.

And how can you said this???? I am on at the moment and getting 9kb/s - sooooo........ yes. They are crap at the moment. You would agree as well if you were one of the people that has had to deal with this for the past 3 weeks :). At the moment on Afrihost, there are The Have's and The Have-Nots. We can be both on uncapped but one of us will be getting 120kb/s on a 1mb line while the other will be getting 9kb/s. There are no excuses or apologies made - but they promise it will be better by the 25th Feb. I have a very strong feeling that the Double you Money Back will be used by a lot of people on Afrihost - or it might disappear off the home page.

Better half was downloading something to her iPod and I was downloading an nVidia driver at the same time these tests were done:

So, no, for us Afrihost is not crap at all. 10Mb line and capped account.

I can say it with confidence :) - I have had a few minor issues - AfriMan sorted them out - I do not download the whole of the Internet, but I expect to download up to 150Gig a month if not more, I have NEVER experienced 9kb/s :wtf: - I can only assume you managed to get hold of AfriMan via PM and he has now finally thrown his hands up in the air - and waved them like he just don't care? :) - I bet you he would not - So what is wrong with your line? Did AfriMan help you out?

Like he just don't care! Lol. Enjoyed that :) I got a 1mb line and uncapped account and only had around 60gb when it started (sad panda). My line syncing at 2mb, so no probs there. The speed has actually improved to 22kb/s. So that is usable at the moment (phew). It is not the line problem. It is a general problem plaguing a some of us. I do not wish this on anyone (okay, I dp wish it on a couple people). But that is not the point ;)

Did you contact AfriMan though?

I've been rather upset about the performance of my Afrihost account the last two weeks and posted lots of feedback. Cancelled.

With all the changes happening on Afrihosts network and Telkom surprise price cuts that will have an effect on the market, I cancelled my service and will review it again in April. I'm any not going to use my ADSL much till July again.

I also found that last night my line was running full speed and had no issues.

Yes I have contacted him (a couple minutes ago). We will see what he thinks we can do. Hopefully they can help :)

Awesome! - I can Guarantee he will help you out - they (Afrihost) go out of their way to help customers out. :) Let us know how its going - once a solution is found. :)
