Is bread killing South Africans?

I have my suspicions I might be based on the symptoms. I'm tired alot, feel bloated but love pasta and bread. Do you know any easy way to get diagnosed in SA?

I decided to cut down on bread and pasta. My energy levels have increased drastically. I used to have bread for lunch, replaced it with rice or salads. It really made a difference.

Wasn't it proven that salt intake doesn't increase blood pressure? I'm sure I read something like that a while ago. Too lazy to google now.

It is not just bread, in general the quality of food we consume today is way different from 25+ years ago. Virtually everything is processed...loads of preservatives and loads and loads of salt! Not forgetting the crap they pump into livestock...the likes of growth hormones,...that now litter our food chain...how does that interact with the human body? Can not just blame bread, the whole food chain is polluted.

I generally only eat rye bread...when I do partake in other varieties of bread...the next day, I feel sluggish as hell...and have a weird taste in my mouth.

I think the government is killing South Africans by making the cost of living astronomical and forcing people thereby to work literally to death.

If you put it that way then we clearly don't know anything about corruption either because Nigeria and Pakistan make our corruption seem a joke.

If you spend more than 5 mins in the US you will be both amazed and disgusted at the walking blimps that can be found waddling around those parts. Doesn't take a genius to figure that there is something wrong with their food/diet. That doesn't make the SA version acceptable

Haha, yeah. When my family went to Disney Land in 2005 my dad was so astonished by the rampant obesity that if you take a perusal throught our photos from that trip, every now again you will find random photos of fat people. We thought there were tons of disabled people in the States because they all drove around the place in this little scooters, until we saw one get off and waddle away of course. :wtf:

Our bread really doesn't even come close to how good bread in the middle east and most of Europe is.

Wanna bet. I just bought some Sasco Low GI Oats And Honey bread at Pick n Pay. Munching on a few plain slices now.

Never knew bread could taste this good.

Or just make your own bread... I have a very simple recipe and its delicious

Too much loafing around is bad for you.

They should be more worried about the amount of sugar in bread.
I love bread but I dont eat it because of how bad it is for you.

Our bread doesn't come close to places like France or Italy?
Damn, who would have thought.

Government doesn't pay for anything. We taxpayers do.
Now you are arguing semantics.

Government pays for health services for the majority of the SA population. Where they get that money is irrelevant to this discussion. As a taxpayer I would rather less people are unhealthy, and so any regulation that assists that is fine by me.

Take your sarcasm elsewhere. We're being fed junk here and we're told to shudup about it because the rest of the world also eats bread.

Since the US arguably has the most processed diet lets look at it's life expectancy:
From here the life expectancy in 2010 is 78.7. Going back 25 years, the life expectancy in 1985 is 74.7, going back 25 years from that in 1960 it was 69.7.

Please take your naturalistic fallacy and go away.

Correlation does not equal causation. Just because foods have become more processed doesn't mean that one gets a better life expectancy, its more likely got to do with better healthcare than anything else. Also you can't say whether our life expectancy could be even greater over those 25 years if we had stuck to more natural foods.

All in all, thats a pretty simplistic and ignorant statement to make. So many variables that you haven't controlled for.

Never mind salt; I still battle to find whole wheat bread that's made with real "pure" brown flour instead of white bread flour.
