Is Dstv Premium worth it?

Dont get m-net, movie channels, rugby,f1 and cricket sport channels. To name but a few.

Can i just say

NO FORMULA1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO RUBGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dude there surely must be something you do in life that wastes money? I know for me it was cutting down on the booze bill to make the 500 bucks for DSTV.

I would rather miss a Friday of boozing and have dstv for the whole month.

If you don't like sport, i guess it really isn't worth it. As a sports fan I am always surprised when they don't show something rather than when they show an event.

+100

They've worked their sums out nicely. For the compact you get complete crap. A waste of time. The only other option is a full thing - again - they give you so many carpy channels but if you want F1/rugby etc you need to go for it.

imo R500 is better spent elsewhere unless you watch tons of TV.

I prefer downloading from my fav newsgroup server and watching the latest stuff with no add breaks :)

Yea greg but think about all the effort it takes to make supersport so amazing man.

They cover just about any sport and have really good coverage.

I don't watch anything but sport but my fiancee watches alot of tv.

Even if all i did was watch sport i would happily give dstv my 500 bucks to ensure i never miss anything.

You know you make a bloody good point!!
I have nothing that wastes money at the moment(granted i've only been working for 8 months) so I may as well "waste" a R250 on premium.

My mind's made up:D

lol good fernando believe me man, the sport you can watch is worth 500 bucks.

people who say that dstv has hardly any good channels are just very picky. DSTV has so many good channels.

The F1 is so good this year, remember if you do get it that the next race is this weekend :)

In terms of live coverage, SuperSport must surely be one of the foremost sports networks in the world.

Better than ESPN? And as for kiddies channels I was in the UK recently and the people we stayed with had SKY with what? about oh, a billion channels or so and when the GF's kid wanted to watch some toons, I channel surfed through about 300 kids programs and you had to pay an extra subscription fee for every single one. Not a free toon to be found. So Mnet is ahead on that front (but for how much longer? before they wake up and realise that all the kids out there are cash cows)

i daresay it is at least on par with ESPN. Especially in terms of the general sporting interests of South Africans. All sorts of soccer leagues. rugby across the board. most international cricket series and local cricket. golf. tennis. and probably a whole lot of other stuff i am not interested in.

ESPN is nice but there is sometimes just too much trivial sport wasting channel space, like oldies and repeats and, and......

I pay R260 a month for M-Net. I get all the premium series, the rugby, cricket and the newest movies. Which is practically all I need.

What I do miss is Boston Legal (only on Series Channel), Formula One and SuperSport's Olympic Coverage. History Channel would have been nice, but at least there's Wikipedia :-)

Something that annoys me is when they move programs to the series channel, For example House MD, was on MNET, they moved it to MNET Series, Boston Legal was initially advertisied/scheduled to be on MNET, is on MNET Series, E.R previoulsy on MNET now on MNET Series. :(

If you are talking about ESPN Classic I disagree with you. I find it one one of the best ideas for sports fans.

If you are talking about ESPN SA proper (old channel 33), then I would agree with you that we had the most useless ESPN ever imagined. Only thing it is good for if you are not into American sports is to watch UEFA Champions League.

R550 pm for DSTV PVR.

I have no idea what channels are missing - I have always had the premium subscription - what dont you get?

some mybroadband users must be the lazy-est ever
just go to the dstv website and have a look

gees:p

DSTV is a waste of money the compact, utter crap..
If I could only select the channels I wanted to watch on compact, then I would sign-up but until further notice. I wont ever sign-up for dstv..
