Is iburst down?

I am surprised that there is so little comment today, but yes, it seems that Iburst is down, lights out and the countdown from 10 has started. See the 'READ-FIRST*-iBurst-Network-Status-amp-Issues'thread and go to the last page, the most recent posts are there. I am in Pretoria and have checked with another Iburst user who is on a different tower and they also see only a red light. Iburst.co.za is also inaccessible. I am connecting thru Vodacom.

Looks like it. Even there website isn't loading. I'm getting connection refused.

Incompetent

Does no one at iburst use any other ISP so that they can update us here or twitter or ANYWHERE ON THE DAMN INTERNET?

Totally useless..

Definitely the most unprofessional ISP around. What ever happened to Iburst LTE? That was supposed to be out at the end of 2012.. and its 4 months into 2013 and we still hear nothing about it.

No new prices for 2 years now, iburst is getting stale..

At this point starting to wonder if they haven't gone bust or something.

Why else would you have a 4hr nationwide outage of all services including your website and call centre, and not even update mybb or twitter??

it would be a joyous day if this company shut down forever. They are so incompetent on so many levels that they don't deserve the privilege of being in business imo.

I believe they have posted an update on twitter:

"We are experiencing connectivity issues in one of our main data centres."

"Our technicians are working on restoring services as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."

I am on their 10Mbps Wifi since last year, been pretty good so far :)

i am near harties and also got nothing at the moment.

overall, i am happy with iburst.

If its true, ICASA doesn't really care that this is hurting the customer at the end with no internet, makes me angry.

Icasa do not care.... That is like saying the cops mustn't stop someone from completing a crime. If what I'd reported is true then it is justified... Would have been nice if it was BEFORE a billing period. Been looking to change for a while due to bad quality of service recently.... And it just gets worse... Hav spent money on all external aerials... And no iimprovement, yet am told it is not a load issue but signal, yet am able to download at higher speeds in the middle of the night....

It's been a long time since iBurst has encounted any problems.

Compared to Seacom, iBurst is more reliable.

So lets just give them sometime to sort out the issue.

I agree ... I have been with them for 6 years or so and they seem fine. I obviously haven't tried all the others, but I am happy with what I am getting.

I would imagine (or hope) that the people who are unhappy with iBurst have changed and moved on .... if not .... huh ?

The service from iBurst is actually quite poor. I peak at 500Kbps on a 1Mbps modem even during the night and average around 0.2Mbps for the passed 6 to 9 months now.

The one good part about iBurst is the amount you pay for the pro20+ product. Only the 8ta 10Gig and Cell-C 5Gig+15Gig promos (although 8ta's is over now) can come close to iBurst in terms of price per MB and I generally use up all 20 Gigs each month. If only the speeds I get could be more reliable :(

The issue for me is besides the fact they are now bypassing the segment of the network that is down, if all the ICASA stories are true where does that leave people with contracts? Ill be trying to cancel mine ASAP as I am sure even if it all comes up again it will be a matter of time before they become iBust and no longer exist ICASA does not seem to be messing around this time.
