Is IPS LCD really worth it?

OK I have been researching all these monitors alot...

BX2440 - too many issues, not really that great
U2311H - not available locally, and uneven colour

ZR24W is still looking good though... there have been a few issues, but not not half as many has with the Dell U2411H
Worst comment I saw: When looking at it from a diagonal perspective, the viewing angles are bad (eg from above left)

Best price for ZR24W, R 3,964 at www.crowntech.co.za - but how reliable are these guys? Thats R600 cheaper than nivo.co.za, btw

Any comments, Rainy?

Dude, you're being a "bit" pedantic. Regarding both Samsung LCDs/LED-LCDs as well as IPS.

The ZR24 is the best value IPS in SA, hands down. And my research (hours on end) painted a completely different picture, so quite frankly I don't think you're getting an objective idea of these screens (aforementioned LCDs/LED-LCDs too).

In the latest PC Format I see BenQ have a VA panel LCD. Why not see if they have any to your liking?

If Esquire have them, I'd consider it. But I'm doubting they do, I'm also doubting the stand will be as good as HP's.

Also, to my understanding, IPS is better.

Unfortunately that is "kinda" one of my weaknesses... I do have a "slight" form of OCD...

The ZR24W has really great specs as well, DisplayPort, 16:10, wall mount, - it really is great, so great I'm considering getting just one of it, and holding off on a dream eyefinity setup for now.

Perhaps it's a bit like expecting the quality and performance of an Audi, but only being prepared to pay for a Toyota.

Just remember the ZR24 seems to have a ±3 week ETA - at least from my supplier...

I'm really interested to know which supplier/distributor "VM633A4" comes from.

I'm so happy with my display - it's not IPS, but super-MVA. Still decent.

The more I use it the happier I get!
