Is it bad to change into first gear while moving?

Yup speeding is really cool. And I'm totally not being sarcastic towards your suggestions of changing down to first going really fast.
This is what's gonna happen to you when you go for your drivers licence test...

You are gonna:

As I see it, what the general consensus seems to be is that if you are unable to visualise the sight of your car's engine in a million pieces all over the road having lunched itself after some arbitrary gear change from ... let's say 4th to 1st at some arbitrary speed of.. let's say 100kmph, then perhaps it's time for a bit more learning before going for the plunge of actually letting yourself loose (alone) on the country's roads. Hope you're using your own car - good luck in your test:)

What is the context of the original question? If you're on a freeway doing 120+ and suddenly change from 5th into 1st, its a very bad idea unless all other means of braking have failed you. It comes down the ratios of the gear box and the stresses that come from it that determines whether or not this is a bad idea at more rational speeds.

Gear->Torque--->rpm
1->5 1000 slow
2->4 2000 slowish
3->3 3000 ok
4->2 4000 fast
5->1 5000 speeding
what do u think will happen at on an downhill if u change to first

i have seen some drivers try to defy the laws of physics and killing their gearboxes. killing gear links... give it a try and see what happens

Moot point far as I can see. most cars, I dare say every car (case even my 40y/o vw) prevents you to change to first gear even from 2nd if the car's going faster than x km/h. maybe 4th or fifth down to 2nd...

No, Hellothere.. you need a course (preferrably about as long as it takes for you to grow old and stop breathing and irritating every living creature around you) in how NOT to ask fscking stupid questions.

Ok, new topic...Best hand-brake turn technique?

my dad was a pro with this ... he would rive in straight line and pull the handbreak up and 360 the car and carry on straight again ... im too poop bang to try that with my car ... drop the clutch a lot when taking a turn so the a55 comes out ... looks cool ... :)

Bugger, somebody would throw a spanner into the works.... fsckit...

I will need to find out which car it is going to try plow into someone else, and just remove the wheels, the city of Durban will be grateful to me for removing its ability to "drive"
