Is it time for a four-day work week?

Hell yes, bring it on! Our economy is already down the tubes, so might as well take an extra day off since there is no work to do.

A 4 day week might be a good idea. 10 hours per day and start from 6am-4pm.

Makes sense to me. Fridays can be friends and family time.

I would happily take a 4 day work week at 10 hours a day....

I think it would be more beneficial to South Africa for us to get a daylight savings system implemented actually. Although I'm all for a 4 day week as well :P

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I don't do work on the Sabbath (Saturday), this is the day I rest on.

If, for some reason I did not kept the Sabbath (work) then I am tired in the new week.

But people are so busy, there hardly is any time for rest. No wonder people are so tired.

France now has a maximum of 6 working hours per day.

/packs bags

Im in, just need to not spend money on that extra day though lol retail sector wont mind this at all.

Four days a week? Sounds a bit excessive.

You an Addy?

I used to attend services at the Addy Church in Sunnyside, back in the day.

Some people (government officials, etc ) already work less than 4 days a week. So, this will be nothing new.

I have seen people advocating that they are at work 6 / 7am and stays there for 10 hours a day, every week..... There is a difference of being at work and working!

Seriously though, 4-day work week will suit me fine. The disciplined ones will anyway come in for a 5th day if there is work to be completed or work more than 10 hours.

+1

(and +2 for another two people in the office). We spoke about it a few times in the past. Do 10 hours, get Monday/Friday off...

I'd personally prefer Wednesday, but I suppose that that would ruin flow in certain business processes. Having that midweek break would really allow me to rest and handle all the admin that I normally don't get to. It'll also mean that I don't need to go out during office hours to do things that I can't do over weekends.

But we have a 3 day workweek already!

Mondays everybody is babbelas from the weekend or too babbelas to even be at work.
Tuesdays we work.
Wednesdays we workthree quarter day as it is Small Saturday so people go for drinks nice and early.
Thursdays we work with semi-babbelas.
Fridays at 1pm it is peak hour on the N1 heading out of Cape Town.
