Is it true that microsoft can search true my computer and delete stuff if i go on the internet using vista, without my permission....:(

no its not true, just some cheap scare tactic by some fud spreaders...

You're saying its not true based on what? Seems like the capability at least is there.

Well, how does Windows Update determine which hardware & software updates your PC needs?

Take a guess...

*Whether it's Vista, XP, 2000, 98 - Microsoft knows... :p

Software can do virtually anything, that doesn't mean it does everything.
You're not that important for MS to want to zap your PC and besides its against the law. There's no reason to worry about this at all

Sure, it may be illegal now, but what about when the RIAA/MPAA gets a warrant or the law is changed?

It's not against the law for them to modify functionality of their OS. If it's in the EULA, they can do it.

Surveillance and accessing people's personal information may be against the law though, except under specific circumstances anyway.

Last I checked we didnt live in America :D

AFAIK Microsoft has to take into accounts the laws of every country they sell to.

True, is there a local equivalent then? If the functionality's there they may only choose to activate it in countries where the legal framework allows for it.

Don't worry about it, they'll never access your files. They might have access to certain windows info, but they'll never access your personal files
