Haven't had any for months.:) Looks like they either sorted their #$%^ out or the realized its doing more damage than not loadshedding.

@ tera - that bicycle generator thing is a good idea - if you're a really lazy bugger then use a chainsaw to power the generator ;)

I got the giggles in imagining ppl arriving at work, only to "ride" bicycles the whole day to power their laptops.... and the CEO doesn't have a bicycle, his PA does it for him... :D:D:D:D

Morning Gentlemen.... my power only came back at 06:00 this morning....

They, being city power, are very quick to put up recorded messages on 011-375-5555  BUT WILL CUT ME OFF AFTER 2 MINS OF HOLDING!!

It seems they did some planned maintenance on Saturday night (and failed to put a note in the local rag, like they used to), the power went out at exactly 12:00, and then they cocked it up resulting in frequency drops and brown-outs lasting 5-45 seconds during yesterday morning around 9:00 - 9:30. And then last night at 6 or so the kuk hit the fan and we were without power, it came back after 45 mins, and then from around midnight until this morning 6AM sharp.

City power = epic fail!

This is becoming ridiculous. They've already ruined one of my UPS units with the surges they induce when they restore the power. I am losing money as a result of this because I cannot work in the evenings, and due to being ill, this past weekend was all I had to get some work done. As usual City Power had incompetence to show me.

You know the solution to that don't you ;)

Anyways, I doubt it's load shedding as such, just technical problems not being addressed due to skills shortage. I'm sure you've all read about the **** truck drivers fixing power issues in Jeffreys, I don't think that problem is limited to Jeffreys.

Saturday night we had no power from 23:00, ran on generator the whole night, power only returned the next morning at 09:20. Thats not maintenance nor load shedding IMHO.

I was on the phone with a friend in Midrand last nite, while talking to him the power went out, hence my question.

Load shedding has been replaced with brains shedding.:D

That was pure laziness and don't care. They didn't want to call whomever was on standby and decided to wait until morning to get a techie out. Probably a trip again.
Similar situation happened at work (we own our own substation) and one day it went out as we arrived at work. My boss got in his car and drove to City Power's offices. Let's just say someone got beaten up and 45 mins later they came out and replaced their circuit breaker. It looked terrible, the lever was snapped off, and it was filthy. A dirty, old component they installed in a brand new substation, to try and cut corners. Since they replaced it, we have had no more problems with our power at work.

I think they're very scared of the general public's wrath now, so they're now shedding in the guise of "maintenance" in areas where they reckon people won't complain or rise up too badly.

Well the power outage has just hit us now in Tableview 13:30pm we will have to see how long its down 4. Thank goodness I have a generator. Id better go check the diesel level.
Well its now 11:20 pm and the power is still out and eSKOM is still uncertain when its going to be up and running again. I beleive its a sub station thats blown............that explains the loud explosion that was heard earlier this morning

Our Zone had a blackout on Friday from 12.00noon till 1.50pm.. No warning, nothing... this will become the norm IMO....

There was a breakin in our street while there was loadshedding... only 2 houses down from us... and there I am thinking to myself WHAT IF IT HAD BEE OUR HOUSE?
