Almost thought I saw a brown paper bag next to her bed-pan in another piccie.

I'm sure it really was one. It was there for one of 2 reasons:

1. to hide away her alcoholic beverage of choice.
2. to throw up after her hangover.

Here comes the smear campaign

Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang is consulting her lawyers over a Sunday Times article alleging she demanded alcohol while she was being treated at the Cape Town Medi-Clinic.

In a brief statement released on Sunday the ministry labelled the article "false".

The Ministry added it would make no further comment on the matter.

"...as the very comments attributed to Sibani Mngadi,

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in the Sunday Times article are grossly misrepresented," the statement read.

I'm not sure that the Sunday Times would publish something like this without having anything to back it up. There are various subtle hints in the article stating that they can back up their claims. I'd love to see her take them on, and ending up being shamed with a pie on her face. Let her dig her own grave and make things worse for herself I say.

rsachoc - not going to fetch my Sunday Times to check, but I don't think they suggested in print that she's alcoholic - that's merely your inference based on the fact that she couldn't go more than a day or two without a top up, oh yes, and the fact that she's since traded in her liver for a newer, stronger model. She can't sue the Sunday Times for something they never said.

Tried to put it more gently But yeah I don't see her having much of a case at all, she's only going to make things worse for herself by bringing all the evidence to the public's attention. I guess we should actually be sitting back and smiling about it.

I still maintain that the lack of accountability is the root from which most/all of our other problems stem. If politicians and other civil servants were accountable they'd be forced to either improve things and follow their mandate or make way for someone who would.

Obviously the zero accountability thing is exactly how T-Bone wants it. T-Bone is the root of all problems in this country. He is a weak leader who refuses to acknowledge that sometimes he may be wrong. Like someone said: he surrounds himself with 'yes' people, and the 'no' people are booted out summarily and with arrogant retorts like 'inability to work as part of the collective'

I fired someone who was drunk on the job a few months ago. It was a hell of a process and very messy with the CCMA involved and all that, but I will not have drunk people working for me - yet we are forced to tolerate this and other incompetent behaviour by the people who are supposed to work for us, the collective. Oh the irony when considering T-Bone's attitude.
