Is News Server - bad msg id's

Has the news server suddenly just died, cant pick up a single header, its just like:

08/25/2006 10:17:48 SERVER=new, MSG=SendCommand - failed response: 400 service discontinued, server disconnected.

That cant be good - can it?

Not just disconnect - "400 service discontinued" :confused:

EDIT - Does IS have a rep on the forum? The resellers do an excellent job but sometimes its nice to hear from the source.
 
Its a standard error message on all news readers, usually when the news reader cannot find the server, it gives a 400 error. But yes the news servers are all down currently
 
Still down, getting errors from both servers

edit: hmm, connecting now but speeds not worth mentioning (bursts of 2-3kb)

I'm getting the same crap. Wtf is going on? Any IS resellers please take this up with them, it's becoming a bit ridiculous now
 
Well I cant wait for Saix local uncapped again, cheers to IS who dont seem to protect there golden egg

If the news-servers doesn't pick up before the 10'th of next month I am cancelling my account with Openweb. IS international is inferior to SAIX. The network is down every second week and now I can't even use my local traffic the way I want to(ie. News-server)! It seems to me these problems just started out of the blue(one day it was working the next it's completely screwed), almost like they are limiting the network to try and screw us Telkom style. :mad:

And MR Beep the new *beta* news-server(which Openweb is testing) has great speeds, that is until you download for more than a hour or so after which SABnzbd(News grabber) reports: "Could not initialize connection". Then mysteriously 12-24hr's later it works 100% again for about an hour. I have talked to NUMERIOUS people who can confirm it. Its like clockwork almost as if it were setup to refuse connections to certain IP's after X amount of time or X amount of MBs. Oh and to confirm this I reset my router to obtain a new IP. Geuss what happens? Hmmm gee the news server works once more...

The ONLY way IS will be able to keep some of its user base after the new ADSL regulations that require Uncapped Local is by having something SAIX does not. That something is the news-server, but if it keeps up like this they can kiss all their new ADSL users goodbye.
 
There is definetly a conspiracy somewhere. I haven't been unable to use my 1 Mbps line at full speed on OpenWeb / IS for at least a month now. On to SAIX uncapped local + torrents I go ;)

The news server works for me. Downloaded over 80gb this month from mainly news.is cos news.isdsl was down most of the time or would drop my connection after 10 mins. Im getting news.isdsl speeds on news.is ATM BTW.

I'm not being judgemental - you paid for it so its your choice what you download - but how the hell did you find 80gb of worthwhile stuff to d/l these days? Believe me - I try.

Next month sure - all the new seasons start in the states - but now?
 
Creativity and orders from others gets u to 80gb pretty quickly. lol :)

Ah - I dont take requests generally - but mates are free to come around and leech to their hearts content. :)

All my mates have my myepisodes.com rss feed to see what I'm getting. Saves a lot of duplicated effort and wasted bandwidth.
 
True, alot of my mates dont even know what torrents or newsgroups are so when they come over they just surf the net and download arb little files. I bring joy and happiness to their lives. :)

Where do you freaks get the hdd space? I'm struggling with my poor little 120GB, you make me shy dudes, come on! :(
