It sounds like all those commenting are single. I think porn is very damaging to a marriage. Sex doesn't happen every night and easy access to porn creates this outlet for pent up sexual energy coupled with a false idea of what a healthy sexual relationship should be. Lets face it, your wife is not always a 'Jenna Jameson', its not happening every hour in the kitchen, the garden, the beach, etc..... But in your now infected minds eye, you need someone like that, and I think it can cause you to either go in search of casual encounters like this, or sit in your porn cave bashing the bishop every hour, and ignoring you wifes needs and romance in a healthy married life. Much like a smoker needs a cigerette to give his hand something to do.

i watch porn and i'm married. i don't watch it around my wife but she knows about it and the reasons why i watch it. unfortunately for me it is an addiction but as addictions go i have a healthy outlet for it and it doesn't impact our marriage

Im just going to nitpick a little bit:

-I feel one night stands are a great way to meet new people. For one, you know quite quickly off the bat if you two will be compatible or not. No need for expensive dates and putting up with LMR again. If that person is great in every way, a relationship can always happen afterwards. Although one night stands are rare, meeting people and seeing them again later on is more common. So there is time to screen them, and if they don't disclose any information about whether or not they have a desiese, maybe they never would, for fear of rejection?

-Condoms are useful against not getting aids. I have a zero tolerance when it comes to that.

-You don't have to get drunk when you go out, and in fact, it doesn't have to be night time to go looking for women either.



Personally, I would rather risk getting aids, and die young, then live old and on my death bed regret what I did (or didnt do) in the past. I used to think that my current situation would improve in the future. I was always optimistic that women would just glide into my life, and every thing would be hunky dory. The reality however, is that I had to make some major changes, and put in the effort my self to get what I wanted.

Ultimately, this is purely my opinion. And I find it interesting to see what you folks have to say, so keep it coming!

If its just to replace sex then I can not see it as a bad thing. Taking sex off the table so to speak makes you more aware of other things like what the women is really like. You dont have a little voice in your brain going "I wanna hump that" all the time.

If you use it as a replacement for going out all together then yes I can see your point.

I agree completely that porn desensitises you. On that note I do watch porn quite regularly, but when I stop watching porn I think sex with the wife is better. I also found that when I was single and stopped watching porn I definitely got lucky more often. I guess it's also because when you are watching porn you are going to be jacking off way more often as well.

Hmmm I think what has been said has some merit....

The desensitises im not so sure is correct, well partly... I think that could be split up into two factors, sexual and emotionally.
From my personal experience(TBH only thinking about this from when i started reading this thread).

-Sexually has ZERO effect for me,(I have a GF, her sex drive compared to mine is quite different, i would say mine is most likely the overactive rather than hers being under) and im still as horny hell no matter when or how often i have viewed porn. I shall put this to the test again from today just to confirm this, go on a mini porn strike.

-Emotionally i think this is where porn has an effect, yes females are more emotional than males generally, but i think that porn has a negative impact in this department, and this is only something that occurred to me when i read this thread. Im not really an emotional male and this is something my girlfriend complains about from time to time... Maybe its also just because females are generally more emotional, dont even know what i was trying to get with this haha... If i remember ill do an edit.

Anyhow not sure what im trying to say but i think that the desensitization could be split into the two categories above and i guess each person is different but for me in terms of sexual pleasure and drive it has no effect on me. I can perform within a couple hours and it feels just as great!

That is obviously a bit of a trick and a leading question...I prefer a vagina to look, smell and taste clean. And I am obviosuly part of the majority in the porn viewing world. For me, jacking off and watching porn go hand in hand. The two simply dont exist in isolation. Whether or not it takes every one up to 6months to recover, is debatable. You would have to be doing it quite often for a recovery time that long! But for me, a few weeks have made a big difference. I feel more horny more of the time, which I guess is natural. More natural than jacking off to porn every time you feel horny. 100 years ago, there was no mainstream porn. I reckon women can sense that sexual urge that a man gives off. If you are horny, you will transmit that through body language and use of words. This is a real turn on for women imo. What ever the reason, us humans are not as advanced as we think we are. We are still hunter gatherer's in our minds. Slowly we are being able to keep up with and process all this information that we are putting into our brains, but not too long ago things were very different. There were alpha males. I think that's just become a convenient scapegoat for those who have had sex outside their relationship. Not my fault, porn made me do it. And it works for the other party too. No nothing to do with me, my husband had sex with another woman because of porn.
