So my order is already processed and I bought the B315 router..I'm praying I get decent speeds cause my area isn't LTE A covered just normal LTE here but it's rain covered (shows blue on the map)

Did you order mobile or fixed?

Oh cool so then it should work fine right even though I don't have LTE A coverage here but have rain coverage
Yes. Besides I have my doubts that rain is true LTE-A.

Keep us updated when you get the SIM

How do you change from LTE to LTE-A? Have a B618 router and the coverage map shows I'm in an LTE-A area

Which B618 do you have? There are two versions, each with different frequency compatibility.

65519 is Rain fixed LTE and 65538 is Rain Mobile but fixed can also connect to it but shows roaming then.

Rain network is LTE-A if you have a device that can do B3+b38 carrier aggregation. The B618 can't so if you leave it on auto it would most likely auto on B3. You need to use a tool to force it to B38 if you feel speeds are a bit slow.

On Rain mobile you will see 4G+ on devices like Samsung S8,S9 and Note likely other devices too but I confirm that S8 and upwards for Samsung works with LTE-A on Rain.

Rain mobile is not device locked and any device that supports band 3 which is basically any LTE device in SA will work fine with Rain.

Rain mostly runs only LTE-A so you can be assured if you have Rain coverage that the closest tower does broadcast on both frequencies. If you have Rain signal it's LTE-A the only thing that would likely be a limitation would be the device.

Is rain's LTE-A intraband on 38, or only by combining 3 and 38?

Only by combining b3 and b38 that is why there are very few devices that support it. Most support multiple spectrum band combinations in FDD and TDD but not many support a mix of combinations between fdd and tdd.

I am using the Huawei E5577. My signal strength is usually only 1 to 2 bars. @cavedog can you perhaps recommend a good router for the rain network?
