Back on android & inspired to nerd into tech after about 8 years.

How much has the rooting/jailbreak community advanced.. is it enough to be worth it considering the vast advancements in the more legitimate side of things android.

@Jet-Fighter7700 This is like a Puchert article.

Missing details, like where exactly was the phone in the car? Visible? I read two long posts and its still missing the juicy parts.

most of the stuff you needed to root for is now available without root...

you would still need to root under a few circumstances ..... for example lets say that official support for your phone stopped at Android 10 but now you need Android 14 or Android 15 for certain apps to work properly but there is no official update for your phone so you need some modded firmware and operating system files for your phone and you can still upgrade to one of the latest android versions and still use the newer apps ...... i would think that this is what the opening poster is more concerned about

Few being the operative word...

Back in the day there were more reasons to root and rom. Nowadays, not so much.

sure its a few but those circumstances do exist - i mean if you look at my Poco F1 - it has a snapdragon 845 CPU and i'm sure if i was able to source a battery for it then i would be able to use an android version up to android 14 or 15 if i used a modded ROM instead of having it all grinding to a halt on Android 10
