IS slow bandwidth,,, something fishy?

mercurial I'm not confusing the two, Telkom's uncapped, as you're calling it, will work like your phonebill, the longer you spend on the phone the bigger the bill, ie the more bandwidth you use the higher the bill, you will basically end up paying per Gb you transfer. Yes they wont cut you off, but if you don't pay Rxxx per Gb that you've used at the end of the month it's the same as not paying your phonebill, you know what happens then.

An uncapped account is an account that has a fixed cost no matter how much you transfer. Telkom will not be providing this in their solution.

If you want to see for yourself search for articles relating to Telkom addressing ICASA about adhering to the ADSL regulation. There are even some transcripts somewhere about it.

Mercurial I don't know what I did to piss you off but my post was aimed at Browser's origional post about IS International bandwidth. Also I pointed out that SAIX wont be offering International uncapped. Local should be free but we know that story.

Next time read my post properly and we wont have these little communication problems.

@FZ1 its shaped if I need unshaped I do the pre paid thing @R125 per GB.

uncapped means they don't cut u off.

This is where you're wrong mercurial. Uncapped by definition, like you say, does mean that Telkom don't cut you off but another critical aspect to true uncapped accounts is that it comes at a FIXED cost. So you pay an amount at the beginning of the month and get to transfer as much or as little as you want. Telkom are NOT giving us uncapped, it's pay-as-you-go. :/

Exactly. This doesn't seem hard to understand.

Same terrible slow speeds here in Parow. It's pathetic man. Come one Neotel, we need you guys. That is if you are going to be able to give us faster and better service.

This is really pathetic. Slower than a 9600baud modem!. BLEH!. :(

Its ridiculous isn't it? I was using my IS account and trying to download the latest nvidia drivers and was doing a massive 2kb/s. Switched to my telkom account and did a steady 380kb/s.

Utterly pathetic.

I have absolutely EVERYTHING stopped, single web page open at a time just to get a page to load. International is Severely painful, local is pretty disgusting!.

I think MyADSL should have a notice board of some sort for the different networks. Atleast we'll have the heads up when they're planning to upgrade etc...

Out of interest, is this just a vanilla IS local account you're using? I've got my 10GB IS local account up now and it seems fine, earlier it was bad though.

And when it goes well, the resellers are plenty on this forum - when it goes bad, like now...they're not even here to give us a simple update on the situation.

guys i think its about time we all start using saix local

hopefully they start charging less for it soon

5 bucks would be cool

I have no IS local right now. Cannot connect to Web Africa local at all. Web Africa SAIX working.

Dispite having a 384K quasi-uncapped IS account I have had to but 10GB SAIX just to be able to download anything, how's that for value.

Unless it seriously improves I won't bother to continue the IS account next month. I could have had over 30GB SAIX bandwidth this month if I used the money spent on IS with SAIX.
