IS slow bandwidth,,, something fishy?

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with this:

Dear User

Please note as a preparatory step towards doing away with the periodic 24 hour DSL disconnects, we will be implementing some changes to our DSL statistics system. ADSL usage will no longer be measured on a session basis, which is currently 24 hours. We are moving to a model based on split sessions. Instead of seeing one entry for each session, users will see one entry per interim update. Currently there will be approximately one update per hour. Each split session will indicate the Start and End time, as well as the period of time that is covers. This has the following advantages for users:

1) Users will not only be able to see how much bandwidth they have used, but also approximately when the bandwidth was used;
2) We will be in a position to extend user sessions beyond 24 hours, as soon as this option is available;
3) Bandwidth usage will be allocated more accurately to the day and month in which it was used.

The presentation of the statistics will remain largely the same. The month and day views will look identical. The detailed day view will, however, contain far more details.
You should see the statistics changes coming into effect from the 1st of November 2007.
Please do not hesitate to contact the IS Broadband Team should you require further information.

Regards
The IS Broadband Team

And when it goes well, the resellers are plenty on this forum - when it goes bad, like now...they're not even here to give us a simple update on the situation.

Par for the course.

mercurial I'm not confusing the two, Telkom's uncapped, as you're calling it, will work like your phonebill, the longer you spend on the phone the bigger the bill, ie the more bandwidth you use the higher the bill, you will basically end up paying per Gb you transfer. Yes they wont cut you off, but if you don't pay Rxxx per Gb that you've used at the end of the month it's the same as not paying your phonebill, you know what happens then.

An uncapped account is an account that has a fixed cost no matter how much you transfer. Telkom will not be providing this in their solution.

If you want to see for yourself search for articles relating to Telkom addressing ICASA about adhering to the ADSL regulation. There are even some transcripts somewhere about it.

edit

If you want to continue talking about this open a new thread, and point people there, or PM me, please stop hijacking other peoples threads

take ur temper somewhere else

This is where you're wrong mercurial. Uncapped by definition, like you say, does mean that Telkom don't cut you off but another critical aspect to true uncapped accounts is that it comes at a FIXED cost. So you pay an amount at the beginning of the month and get to transfer as much or as little as you want. Telkom are NOT giving us uncapped, it's pay-as-you-go. :/

i was under the impression that uncapped means no matter what u pay, u don't get capped. i guess i was mistaken then :confused:

Mercurial I don't know what I did to piss you off but my post was aimed at Browser's origional post about IS International bandwidth. Also I pointed out that SAIX wont be offering International uncapped. Local should be free but we know that story.

Next time read my post properly and we wont have these little communication problems.

@FZ1 its shaped if I need unshaped I do the pre paid thing @R125 per GB.

u didn't piss me off dude. sorry if i came across that way.

take ur temper somewhere else

You insult people and refused to even consider that you are wrong, which you were, when they explain things to you. When I ask you to stop spamming this thread and creat a new one or PM me you tell me to take my temper elsewhere.

You're an arrogant and ignorant fool. How you de expect people to react when someone who is clearly ignorant to current affairs degrades people who try to informing him. Take your mentality elsewhere.

This is ridiculous. All you had to do was consider what others were telling you. I even told you what news to look for. I bet you didn't even bother to run a single search.

You want personal, so here you go.
This is where you're wrong mercurial...
Exactly. This doesn't seem hard to understand.
Seems more like you're wasting our air :p

Oh, and please learn english sometime.

Satisfied now? Thanks for ruining another thread, may as well be closed.
