I can connect but that is it - not even able to ping www.cellc.co.za

Tried in Primrose and Rivonia.

So I called 140 and have been on hold (for the second time now) for 20 minutes.

No matter how good a network or product proposition may be, this is unacceptable for customer service. You see, a simple recording saying "We are having network issues" would have been enough for me. But not even that.

And dialing 140 presents a useless menu that I had to listen to twice before I was told that I have not made a selection so now I can press 9 for a person.

I reported a dead area to Cell C a while back (in Fourways) and I got a non-sequitor response. I replied and have heard nothing back. So, my question is, how does one contact Cell C? 140 does not work. Emails are ignored. And network notices do not exist.

Hi GreGorGy how long have you had this problem..? please PM your contact details...thankd...DM

PMed Lars - nothing
PMed Cell_c - nothing
PMed ronbo4GS - nothing
Call head office? I have been on hold for 36 minutes and on the phone for over an hour. Nobody wants to even talk to me. Surely being on hold for 40 minuts must mean that their systems are totally buggered. Surely they are aware of me. No, wait, maybe not. PMs ignored. Calls ignored. Emails ignored.

I'd be perfectly happy if they told me to go to hell, and I have told them this much, as it would mean an IMPROVEMENT in what they are currently telling me.

Also had this problem last night in Greenstone Hill.
Barely able to connect to any website including cellC.co.za
I thought it may be a DNS issue, but evening pinging Google's IP resulted in huge packet loss and +3 second pings.

Emailed them - that address - (unrelated to this) on 7 Feb. No reply. Dropped bumps on 9 and 22 Feb - but no real reply.
Did you provide all the details as per the post linked to above?

I am not having any issues with CELL C at all but have noticed each area I am visiting the service is degrading by about 10 dBm or so and this has been ongoing in certain areas I visited today and from yesterday....

Did you provide all the details as per the post linked to above?

I provided enough details to get this response on 7 Feb:
Good Day Greg
We apologise for the late response.
From our coverage map, your area is within 3G range. Please reply with your contact details, and a technician will be in touch to resolve the problem.]
Also, please confirm if we got the right area on the map.
Regards
Cell _C

to which I replied in affirmative with GPS coordinates to which they replied an hour later:
Hi Greg
We just got confirmation from Planning and Optimization; there is a
general problem with Neotel in the Fourways area. It should be sorted
out next week some time.
Please keep us posted.
Regards
Cell_C

to which I replied that it was not a current problem but one that has persisted for at least six months to which they replied...

...nothing on 7
...nothing following reminder on 9
...nothing following reminder on 22

I am now used to nothing. For instance, I PMed Cell_C above as requested 2.5 hours ago. Response? nothing of course.

You see, at the beginning of the year, I was desperate to leave MTN in the dust. And vc is no better and I thought, time for Cell C. The only issue was this reception. I tried phoning. After realising the menu had no option to press 9 for technical or operator or anything (just check balance, enquire about MMS) I gave up and began my email campaign.

I am now quite discouraged. Despite promises and campaigns and guarantees and even an active presence on this forum, Cell C has a black hole around me. If they do not want my business, the least they could do is tell me. I will detail my experiences later. Suffice to say, MTN's billing balls up is easily solved by switching to prepaid. Cell C's failure to respond to me is not easily solved. I have tried all means. Phoning, emailing and PMs here and nothing.

Last year, I tried Cell C for one month. Prepaid. Spent R2000. So obviously they got someone to call to offer me a contract. Greg don't do contracts! I quickly learnt that I saved myself untold misery by refusing that contract. My desire to port has decreased to almost ZERO because of this experience today (4 hours since I called and still no response) and their failure to answer my earlier emails. In case they care, my details are in your PMs Cell C reps.

Interesting - I wonder what Neotel has to do with this? I thought CellC used Vodacom towers.

Which part of Fourways are you in? SteveRas has also been complaining (although he's been quiet recently - maybe he's in the final stage of "acceptance").

I'm over near Broadacres and CellC has logged a callout for me.

Fourways - Waterford Estates. And MTN and VC were just as bad there but MTN made an effort to somewhat improve. After I emailed them the GPS coords of their faulty tower (standing within linesight, signal was over 100db no matter what).

UPDATE: STill no response, despite PM to Cell_c (who said someone would call me - they have not! 28 hours later. Very frustrating.)

I spoke to someone at the call centre yesterday at 4 and insisted on a supervisor. That person took my number and said the sup would call me back. I am still waiting.

Sucks you having a bad experience with cellc. I bought the 2gb prepaid deal a month or so ago, had a couple of disconnect issues at first but that seems to be sorted out and have been very happy since.

But the bad customer service you getting is definately unacceptable. Has to be said that in most threads the cellc reps/ceo usually sorts issues out quickly from what I've seen.

Now I'm having the exact opposite! I got my 2gg bundle in November last year and was VERY happy with it! Until a few days ago......now I find I'm dropping the connection on a very regular basis...like every 2 minutes! I'm in Maritzburg, has anyone experienced this?
