Is the iPhone 3G really worth it?

Until you're subjected to the VodacomTax - the apps really vary in size.

Like I said before - I dont see why Vodacom doesnt make app downloading from the iTunes store free.

The iPhone came first which technically makes the X1 the [-]cheap[/-] clone.

Plus as far as I'm concerned the X1 runs Windows Mobile.. which makes it a non starter in terms of phones for me. I dislike Symbian with a passion, and Windows Mobile I dislike only slightly less than Symbian
 
To be honest I dont even no why they even made windows mobile for cellphones:confused:
Operating systems should be kept simple on cellphones such as on the iPhones and Blackberrys.Cellphone manufacturers want to hide it and customers want to avoid it I see no reason for it.I had a few windows mobile phones and all of them subjected an annoying user experience.
Cant wait for the G1 with android to be launched in SA thats a step in the right direction together with the iPhone and Blackberrys:)
 
iphone runs a smaller version of mac osx... so its still an OS.

as an ex iphone owner i just want to say that in my opinion, iphone is the greatest gadget EVER invented... its seriously a baby mac... that magic little touch screen etc... and then, it has a couple phone/gsm/data capabilities...

i kinda see it in that order... great gadget that can make calls...

my x1 however is unlimited in what you can and cant do with it. i HATED windows mobile and swore never to get it after i saw my brothers frustrations with his imate... however guys... i took the plunge and this thing is ROCK SOLID. fast, responsive, no crashes EVER... not to mention you can tweak this thing till the cows come home. ive even got garmin xt installed.... "in 300meters turn left.... offroute, recalculating :)"

try that on an iphone...

but i still say its an amazing device !
 
Living with the Bold

If I had to choose again, I'd choose the Bold (even with its quirks) over the iPhone and Storm. I'd also choose MTN (even with the contract migration wait) again.

It wins over the iPhone for me because of the awesome keyboard, unlimited fixed rate surfing (appart from the WAP streaming and file size limitations), MMS, copy/paste, flash, Bluetooth, video recording (out of box) and Blackberry Maps (which work better than Google Maps where I live).

The iPhone is a cool phone, but just not for me. The keyboard and data package was a deal breaker for me. The iPhone has an amazing developer community, but Blackberry is building its own and it already has unofficial stores like crackberryappstore.com

The iPhone's web surfing experience is also awesome, but I use RSS (Viigo) mostly to read my favourite sites. The media aspect of the iPhone is also awesome since it integrates well with iTunes, but Blackberry has Roxio and MediaSync (that works with iTunes).

My advice is to be honest about what you want in a phone, and then see which one will cover your needs.

The Bold changed my life, though.

The bold is great thats why you cant find any vodacom outlet that has stock.Anyway they said they would be receiving on tuesday we'll see what happens.
 
Well I got my iphone a week and a half ago, there was some teethign problems at first (faulty phone), but after making enough stink, I got a new one.

I am using it as my primary phone, and really enjoy it. There are some minor issues with the phone, but all the bad is eclipsed by all the good.

Running unix (osx), is great, had my fill with windows mobile phones, and am still struggling with my wifes windows mobile phone and mms.

The motion sensors in the phone is amazing (get yourself the light saber app and the ibeer app and you will see)

Another big plus for me is the amount of apps out there, there are tons and they are increasing by the day.

The last thing, finally I can use my itunes to its full capability, and it works like a charm, from sync to backup of the phone (and you can even get an itunes account with some crafty work arounds)

So in my opinion, its a great phone, and it caters to what I need and use most of the time with a phone, and that should be the big descision maker with every phone, does it cater to your needs.

Oh yes, and to completely push you in an iphones direction, google a little app called shazam, you will see its freakin amazing and free
 
I had a ipod 5th gen for about 3 years now and after getting used to the feel of an Apple product and basically living in the world of itunes i found the switch from my N95(worst phone ever) to the iPhone3g a natural one.

And plus its the best iPod out on the market.
 
This might be a dumb question but gonna ask it anyway its regarding mxit and the iPhone 3G since it doesnt support mxit at the moment.
I've noticed that with Mxit you can import your contacts that are on MSN messenger,JABBA and a few others.The iPhone 3G supports all of those clients so my question is "can I not talk to my Mxit contacts on say JABBA the same way you can talk to JABBA contacts on Mxit.?"

Sounds confusing but I think you know what I mean:)
