Is this a good Gaming PC?

angellus you know that the fx 60 running at 2.6 isnt fast because of its speed

amd is not a speed based cpu unlike intel i think

im pretty sure your cpu even overclocked wont perform even close to the fx 60 because of other factors other than speed

overclocking amd dont offer that much of a performance increase
unlike intel

might be wrong though

ive just never seen em overclock an amd like they do with intel

rectron is not badly priced, they are actually really well priced
i would pay extra per computer just for the good support rectron offer

rather than a cheap ass company who's support sucks because it just ends up costing you time, which sometimes is more important than making that little bit extra

The P4 and Athlon have different ways of doing everything. Intel need huge Ghz to compete with AMD. The Pentium M and Core Duo are built like AMD with low Ghz but high operations per cycle.

My CPU performs just as fast as the 4800+ at the same clock speed because it uses the same core. Sometimes it is even a little quicker. When I get better cooling and go to FX60 speeds I am 100% sure it will perform the same.

P4's have to clock higher Ghz speeds to keep up because they hav low number of operations per cycle so they need lots of cycles to get the same amount of work done.

That is why the highest Ghz overclock was done on a P4, think it was 7.*Ghz while AMD was at somethinglike 4Ghz.

If by speed based CPU you mean based on high Ghz then yes the FX60 and all other AMD cpu's are not fast because of their "speed"

But one thing is for sure a 4400+ Toledo X2 running at 2.4Ghz = a 4800+

How would this machine compare with mine? I have no complaints about the Medion, it's running like a dream! Just curious!

Could have done better on the Graphics card:)

My 3800+ clocked to 2.55 GHz would prob beat a FX 60 just because of the memory speed. Was running sync ram at DDR 510, so that would also give a bit of a performance boost. Thing with it is the heat gets really bad on stock cooler. I rate I could prob get it to bout 2.6 with decent cooling...

I just hooked a 7800GT an Asus A8N premium and was bench stable at 2.65Ghz with my 3500 Venice, running 1:1 with value ram on air lmao.....85 k Aquamark 3 and around 17k 3dmark 03.....what an exillerating session~just finished up
Gonna go for 87k...Got some voltage headrom, was running vcore-1.6,vdimm-2.80.....
