TBH since i.got.issues posted that link to the D-Link DGS-1016 for R666, thats a freaking good price for a 16 port GBE switch, and its TP link. :)

I have the exact one and currently have it setup as follows:

Switch ---> router --->adsl

Devices connected directly to switch:

Laptop in home office
Samsung bluray player in lounge
Samsung smart TV in bedroom
3 x WD live network 3TB hard drives for media and backup
1 IP camera. Planning more cameras

Also have about five other devices such as phones and tablets that connect to the router via Wi-Fi.

Cheap/expensive? Why are these babies listed for R1000+ on other sites?
Don't know what happened to the above post but the DGS-1016A is the plastic desktop model whereas the +R1,000 DGS-1016D is the metal housing desktop/rackmount model.

They are all pretty ugly. Last thing to worry about.

Browse the site there are 16 ports (you'll never use) as well.

I have no time to check specification, but for home use I would check whether switch suport power saving standard (frequently called Green Ethernet).
