Is this a legit site https://www.techguysa.co.za

I've bought from Tech Guy SA too, and had a good experience.

Rep +1
Owner is very helpful and somehow if you are in JHB orders ship lightning fast.
Awesome stuff (yes if you in JHB and the stock is in JHB we ship it from JHB since its right there takes quicker. so on so forth.

Since this thread has been necro'd, will also mention I've bought from techguysa and had good service. If only the website was a bit better...
Hey thank you for the feedback

am planning on doing a tiny revamp just have not had the time latley mainly on home page and checkout page, product page not much i can change there. but What is the better you mention so i can take it to consideration. and at a later *much later* stage maybe doing some core changes to lighten up the server load (if thats what you refering to) beefy server but it has its days sometimes especially if you using firefox.

So the 2 issues are the speed hiccups and when you filter by lowest price, you get all the sold out products first. This means the user has to scroll through all the unavailable stuff first before they get to the cheapest product which is a bit frustrating.

Okay honestly guys we are not website detectives, are we going to be getting threads like these daily now

but honestly this isnt helpful to the thread.
I think the OP should be allowed to ask these type of questions even after doing his own research especially with this recent ITworkup fiasco being so close.
yes there are big names in tech that should be trusted, but the spirit of capitalism is that multiple businesses offering similar services should result in competition and better value overall, so it is always a good idea to ask.
Thats what the forums are for and thats why mybroadband isnt a dead platform because people use it to engage in matters like this

Exactly, forums should be sounding boards and resources for information.....if it wasn't for this forum and it's members, we'd likely wouldn't have been able to get informed about EveTech or sketchy sites. So keep this going.

Amazing guy, very friendly and helpful, and went out for the way for me

100% legit site

Apologies i dont recall seeing the notification on this thread as im not OP but

there is a Filter called Stock Status been there foreverjust tick the in Stock and it will only show you in stock there are thousands of products in general i could hide out of stocks but then people wouldnt know i generally stock it etc so its best to show out of stocks so its visible. The end of life stuff when i go through them they are hidden completly unless you see it via Google

Speed since then been taken care of the one thing since last year was bot attacks slowling the site down but we have heavily customised back ends to prevent this (and if i see them slip i watch learn and patch as it comes).

Also filters for motherboards etc been reworked a few times just have to update it time to time.

The timeline between OP and your comment is a little off (still valid) but still valid Even big stores like Raru became dodgy towards the end (may of figured what happened then nearly happened to me but im stubborn) . if anyone remembers the complaints before they vanished and then that otherone i forgot their name.

And MBB should be a place to safley ask anything tech related without being belittled (not saying is what happened but in general.

I too get Price match forms sent my way against scam sites and i do my own investigations and checks. as we dont match scam sites of course. (Example)

100% thank you again sorry late to the party here

I honestly didnt think this thread continued.

Thank you all for the posts often find this on google funny enough.
Done a lot of back end stuff over the passed year mostly security all these things happening to sites latley you cant sit and wait otherwise cost you money know how it feels to be offline for a week and watch your database get nuked. (No Breach i turn the server off completely if i have to or do a complete block)
Wont go into details on what we are using to help against A.I bots but yes that is what we mostly been up to back end wise. Am planning another revamp its minor more layout than anything else some colour may change as it came to my attention some screens displays the colours bit darker than my monitor. and less heavy to process.

Always loading products as well. Do plan on loading more non Computer related items mosly cause The A.I memory shortage (Even tho we were partly warned about the shortages none of us saw the "how" , foresaw an issue and have noticed it mostly since Q2 of this year and gets gotten worse every week (prices wise)

Anything we can improve yes always no store is pefect in my eyes. We just try our best.

Your reply is almost 2 years later

One thing about that site, same as Evetech, they force insurance. However according to the CPA, the product is 100% the responsibility of the retailer until accepted by the customer. While in shipping the product remains under control of the retailer. It's his agents who are responsible for the delivery. This kind of penny pinching puts me off. Rather make all products a wee bit more expensive and include your insurance in the price or pay for insured shipping at checkout, i.e. charge for all shipping and all shipping is by default insured.

If I buy something on Takealot or Amazon or Makro or Amazon US/Japan/EU, if I don't sign off with the courier, the item has to be refunded or replaced for free if I don't receive it. Here it seems, if you don't buy insurance, you will have to use the CPA to force these guys to refund or reship which is an off putting experience.

It seems that Techguy knows it's a PITA to go small claims court or via the ombusdman so they skirt regulations this way and try to show lower prices and add extra charges later. But CPA is clear that the responsibility is with them. This kind of behaviour would put me off buying anything on that site unless the price was really good with the 2% insurance so I don't have to waste my time afterwards. But then the price has to be much much better.
