So im thinking of getting a Business 4mb uncapped line with Afrihost only cause it says in the small print that Business DSL accounts are Guaranteed to be completely unshaped at all times.

I looked up on this and seems like people say that this is not true for them?? Now im confused. I need help here. Is anyone on the afrihost business uncapped 4mb package? Please confirm this for me

In that link i just posted, read the small print at the bottem. It only appears that the home uncapped is under a policy where afrihost has the right to shape your line during traffic ect ect. But on the business line i want to get they say its unshaped at all time

It's supposedly unshaped, but with all the network issues and lack of capacity experienced lately, it performs like a shaped account.

You just need to pay a little more :)

I cancelled my 10MB Business account this month because it was being shaped constantly. It also doesn't perform well with streaming services (even Youtube) and has random issues with Apple' iCloud. Up until the issues started 2 months ago they were fantastic but for the time being I would avoid them.

Business DSL is definitely unshaped 24/7. We have had some performance issues on our network in general in the last few weeks, and we've been working really hard to resolve them. We are seeing that we could have put these behind us and we're monitoring closely to ensure performance is where it should be.

Drop me a PM and I'll give you a discount link to get 50% off your first month with us so you can try it out :)

We know that performance has been an issue, but there was no active shaping policy, as this was a general network performance issue.

I'm sorry that you had a poor experience though. When our network is running well again, you're welcome to PM me about giving it a try to see if it works for you again :)

I will definitely give it a try once things settle down again.

Afriman ... so you offer a 50% discount to new customers to come and struggle with your network but existing customers don't get compensated for not getting the full line speeds they were promised!? Surely this is just fundamentalyl flawed? You tell another that you'd had performance issues over the last few weeks (still ongoing) yet you try and hook a new customer into your flawed setup?

Sorry ... to me ... that's a new low for Afrihost! Fix your network first AND THEN go and get more customers!

the 50% off is not new
i was with afrihost sometime ago before all this problems started
and it was full speed all the time, browsing was fast, torrents ran full speed all the time

streaming was ok,not great,but ok

only reason i left was,i wanted a ISP that streams better,
but for downloading, afrihost did what it should

The 50% discount is fair as it will cover almost the actual usable bandwidth the user will get.

After that you pay extra for the privilege of being one of the elite Pure Internet Joy Testers!

We've always had a referral system for people to try out our services so I think it's for the individual person to decide. I don't expect that we will be experiencing performance issues on the network much longer.

Afriman ... If you are not sure of the EXACT date the problems will be resolved and you are aware that the network is not performing at the levels it should, you should not be asking anyone to join ... simple as that! Respect people and don't offer them a product that you KNOW is faulty!

I heard that "you don't expect that you will be experiencing performance issues on the network much longer" from end of September already!

When the AH business account works - it works TOO well, and is the best value for money IMHO.
Sure they have gone thru a rough patch, but for me ATM, its running like a train ... and having been thru some other ISPs I can say, that its a good prospect -

My advice is to go for it ... compared to other offerings its good.

Edit - I am the 4meg Business uncapped - and I pull between 8 to 12 Gigs per day.

This, I got the 2mbps biz uncapped, but AH is overloaded now, so its not a guarantee, but im still finding my line stable.

I think it's up to the individual to decide if the product works for him, don't you? He's asking about the the product and I'm giving him a chance to give it a try. I don't think this needs to be over-analysed :(

You blow AH's horn far too much, especially during a period where it is obvious that they are not performing. You also constantly reinforcing how their service is the best value for money... suspiciously so... hmmm....
