That is nowhere near amazing. Sorry to burst your bubble.

lol.....is it a decent price though and is it a good laptop?

I think it is decent. Forget about gaming, but at least it has an nvidia gpu and dual core. is it new or 2ndhand?

second hand......how much is a 1 gig ram for it?

So if i put in another gig would it be suitable for general gaming and apps?

2ndhand it's not such a great deal. But yes it would still be perfectly suitable...except you might find yourself wishing for a bigger hdd.

I would stay away from the DV6000 range ... I had one and the motherboard packed up after 6 months ... took it in for repairs and this guy told me that he was getting at least 4 DV6000 per week ...

My brother inlaw also had one ... same problem ... and he bought his overseas.

And the spec is not really that good for gaming ... thats prolly minimum spec for decent games. i could barely run DOOM3 on it ... had to tweak graphic settings to get it to play smoothly.

Just my experience ...

Cheers

yeah true....and harddrives are Expensive....but i have a 500gig External so it wont be that bad....
Dami wish i found about that earlier :-(.....i hope that doesnt happen to mine.....How much did it cost to fix or did they replace the motherboard?

not good , go have a look at www.zones.co.za , brand new laptop with much better specs for R10,999 (Acer ; core 2 duo 2.0Ghz , 4xgig ram , 250gig hdd can upgrade to 500gig , 9300gs 256mb and 17"screen )

But i notice they have a very similar spec NEW lappie (only with intel graphics but let's face it 7200 is about the same as 4500) for 6,500. Definitely not a great buy.

I ran DOOM3 with most settings on at 800by600 on a PentiumM 2.0GHz with an ATI X700 Mobility. Surely a "
NVIDIA GEFORCE GO 7200 256MB GRAPHICS CARD!!" is faster than an ATI Mobility X700 and the Core 2 Duo CPU is defintely faster than a Pentium M.

That Intel GMA is way slower than the GeForce 7200 Go. The Intel GMA is Geforce 3, perhaps Geforce 4 peformance level.
Intel GMA does not have Hardware T&L for instance and memory is shared not discrete.
