Hi All

Please can i get clarification on this:

I have been hearing rumors around that IS is planning to shut down all the Uncapped Express Accounts in 3 to 4 months time, as they (IS) clam that people are abusing the accounts?

Can anyone from IS comment on this?

Thanks
BB

How do you "abuse" an uncapped account?

and what would be really nice is if IS gave us a way of checking our usage on these accounts.

Sounds like Mweb. Using an uncapped account to the limit is "abuse."

There is a reason it is called "uncapped" dammit! No limits! How can you abuse something that is infinite?

Don't abuse your uncapped account! must be a true south african line :)

I think they would have a point if uncapped accounts were going for R300pm and the accounts went full steam 24/7. But any "abuse" is only happening in the dead of night when Business SA is fast asleep. I think these accounts are a great way for IS to sell unused bandwdith capacity that they've already expensed. Every express account sold adds directly to bottom line profit.

Yup, if they really have a problem with these accounts "and the abuse" why not just go, "Well, we'll make it unshaped for you guys, no speed limit imposed during business hours and give you a 250 gig cap"

Same price + those terms, I'd sell my kidney for an account... no serious...

Lets follow up with Axxess, I doubt they will cancel it, especially with bandwith been cheaper for them due to Seacon

Why not simply boot off those they deem to be excessive users and deal with it that way.

I don't understand how you can abuse an uncapped/unlimited account. The definition of uncapped means there is no limit, i.e. you cannot abuse the account as it has no limit. If they want to keep calling it uncapped, they can't boot anyone, or I will sue them!!!

Ja, that would certainly clarify the issue. Or send them a warning by e-mail.

The fact that neither M-web or IS have done that makes me suspect that they either don't really have the means to track this. Or they have no business sense. Or they just plain have no clue what they are doing.

That is... if this is true in the first place.

If you don't want the product to be uncapped then put a large size cap on it. They market the products as uncapped to attract the heavy users. Then when the users make heavy use of the uncapped they complain.

On what grounds? Did you sign a long term contract or are you simply month to month like most users. I'm sure they are under no legal obligation to renew your service.

I actually signed a 1 year contract, not on a month-to-month.

Then as long as there isn't a termination clause in the contract you should be fine. :)
