IS uncapped & YouTube

Has anyone on IS uncapped ever been able to watch a youtube video? I used to watch them fine on SAIX but its Painfull on IS

Have a realtime graph polling my gateway and the graph hardly shows any traffic when viewing.. bad peering somewhere?

Normal downloads run fine, 45KB/sec + -

I also sometimes have issues on IS with viewing Youtube. I'm not uncapped but there are still some issues.

IS to international sites goes through a satellite connection, where SAIX has a fibre cable running. Pretty sure it is that, the latency of IS connections to international.

Yeah probably has something to do with it.

Video streaming is built to get around latency, an extra 250ms would not affect it in that way. Latency affects protocols that need quick responses like voip or live video conferencing.

Web browsing might be slightly less responsive on pages with a lot of small downloads(images) but downloading/streaming a video should get its full bandwidth within 1 or 2 seconds on satellite.

Crux of the matter here is there is very low throughput from the youtube servers to IS for some reason :/

I was checking a few YouTube videos tonight and didn't seem to have a problem. Was running at around 40-50KB/s.

I'm on OpenWeb's 512K Uncapped.
