Yeah was wondering about this.
At first thought it was device or a devices network issues.
But have found this issue at gym on the wifi, sometimes on the road via vodacom and at home via openserver\axxess
But then Google makes me fill out a captcha every time I want to do a search . Spotify should ensure that their partner fixes this, not have us use a VPN for a service that is locally available.
What VPN server did you use? When I tried it I used an SA server so it was not any better.
I had this issue with a podcast twice. It just stops and then the show is not even on my recently played list.
When I find the episode again it is reset to the beginning.
This is not convicting me to move over from Google podcast.

I haven't had any issues on Spotify via Cool Ideas in Cape Town since CISP spoke to them i stream every day and never had any buffering, streaming currently and my traffic is coming from 2.16.199.49 which is Akamai direct
Just changed to a "new" song and IP changed to 95.100.108.64 and its Akamai direct as well
In South Africa, Akamai is routing audio-ak-spotify-com.akamaized.net strangely, causing constant buffering on partial downloads. For example, local server 197.80.130.136 causes issues, but routed to international server 92.123.140.88 works better. It seems to swap between these at random. DNS...

Basically, the issue is that some of the local servers (operated by an organisation called "Akamai") that Spotify uses are problematic, as a customer of Akamai, Spotify can from their side ask Akamai to look into this problem, see more context here:
YouTube being a bit flakey for anyone else, getting some constant buffering at the moment. Afrihost Frogfoot here, I noticed it just now. Yup, same here. Very inconsistent Reports rolling in here. We are investigating. Our GGCs aren't in the mix; so would be something from peering side...

It seems that Akamai is ignoring requests from ISPs, so pressure from Spotify's side would help:
Ever since the recent cable breakage my Spotify often pauses while playing music. It seems like when it's struggling to stream that I'm talking to an MWeb server: So the issue may not be with Cool Ideas. Everything seems to be working perfectly, for example I do hours of Teams video calls a...
I wouldn't consider PIA dodgy, but anyway I'm not paying an extra R100 per month so that Spotify functions as it should. If I can replicate the playlists in YouTube music then I can save money since I am paying for that as part of ad free YouTube.
